I broke my phone yesterday.  imagine me fumbling over it as if I was playing the game "hot potato".  I had a last resort before it went crashing to the floor, and that was using my hackey sack skills by tapping it up with my left foot.

Instead, I kicked it with my iron leg straight into the wall which was less than two feet away.  It was a solid kick.  Surprised it didn't go through the wall.  hehe.

Now, I have a feeling, i'm gonna be like this guy....may not be such a bad thing.

I went without a cell phone for about 3 months awhile back.  It was awesome, and I didn't miss it at all.  After I got a new phone, it took about 45 minutes before I was looking at it every few minutes like an idiot, worried about missing something.

I consider my cell phone as a stinking leash.

Have you noticed now how much conversation is interupted by cell phones?

People's concentration are so split, you cannot sit down with someone these days without the cell phone going off & breaking a conversation. So people are partially there with you, partially on the phone.

There are Basketball leagues over here in the Midwest...I find them and disrupt them like this guy..bahahhaahahaha

@ post 248.  Yea...i'm having phantom notifications in my pocket.  You know, you think you feel your pocket vibrating due to a notification?  and I'm habitually  feeling my pocket for my phone.   hahaha man it's crazy.

That was only the first day w/out it.

I do have a sense of worry though, for there are people that I need to stay in contact with...it's slowly going away because, hey....if they truly need to get a hold of me, they will find a way.   Besides being on my puter at work, I enjoy the "off the grid" feeling.

It is interesting.  I'm already understanding the things I may have considered a distraction or interruptions before, are the main things I should be involving my life in, and the things I may have been involved in with the tumor on my hand, are the things that are entirely irrelevant to a sustainable life!!!

haha Nik, my bro is pretty busy on his cell, so when he comes over or when we visit wherever, he's constantly on his cell.  Every now and then while he's on his cell, I will text him (while being 1 foot away from him) and just say random stuff, more or less to "get off your phone!!".  haha if anything, it's  kicks for my self.

I really liked it before the beepers and then the dreaded cell phones. I could go to work all day and do my job and then go home and have to listen to all the horsesh#t for the day. At least when I had to hear it I was able have a few beers to make it easier to stomach.

Now that I am retired and carry a cheesy flip phone I have to get calls and text messages all day long making stupid demands.

You might say "just turn it off clown". Well that would be a three hour fight when I got home and beer just doesn't seem to go down as good during a fight.

Nikprit

ah right I see what you mean by a leash now HW.

mmmm---good to keep your boundaries man, otherwise someone else will make them for you.

Women can be the worse for that, we all go through it.

Isn't that is why you created the Man Cave Thread Nik?

Nikprit

cannot live with them, cannot live without them & you cannot shoot 'em HW.

Women can be overly persistant at times. But I guess they see us the same too.

Not mine Nik, if I don't cave to her then she implies that I have my head up my ass.

Nikprit

is it a universal fact that women tell you that you don't listen to them, while not listening to men at all?

Women probably say the opposite to the above.

You know Nik I read where some University did a study and found that women on average will say 20,000 words a day, and a man only will say 7,000. It's no wonder she blows my cell phone up everyday.

I love it when I am home and she is talking to one of her women friends on the phone and it always goes on forever. It's like a mini vaction in my own home.

HessianWarrior

@ Nik  You know what I was just thinking? Of course you don't, but have you noticed that here in the forums that men are the most prone to make long ass winded posts, and the women don't. I think it's strange.

bunicula

The fear of actually being listened to? 😉

That's a good thought Bunny. I never thought of it that way.

I can believe that HW. It is the same type of pattern this side.

They are burnt out by the type they hit the keyboard & men still have a 13,000 word reserve Sealed

Yup.Wink

Just wondering Ms. Whip as the upcoming Nurse Rachted, do you know why verbal overkill by women in life is countered by the men with text overkill on a chess site.
