My Keeper has a very useful talent which lets you face tank tougher creatures for a bit. And yes, it wears Heavy Armour too.

Yeah, as a pure Mage my Armor Class totally sucks... anything that gets within arm's reach of me can hurt me pretty bad.
Your Keeper presumably wears Heavy Armor.
But an Elementalist can dish out the damage as if the world was coming to an end. A prototypical glass cannon build.
