They are not failures, all animals were beautifuly and purposefully made
Pandas are adorable!!
Several years ago I found out that long ago before the first panda was proven to actually exist, its existence was just a rumor that many didn't believe (exactly like the bigfoot/sasquatch story). There'd been a few people claiming there was a 2 toned (white/black) bear looking creature & people were saying bullpoopoo, where's the evidence? No dead body? No pictures? Just like the Bigfoot stories. Just like the Yeti.
