"Bit like Kaynight did".....surprise    So this is a 2nd account of yours heh?......maybe 3rd, 4th,....  KayKnight was a mature intelligent person who had a way with words. All you post is negative comments and insults. KayKnight was liked by many members. Oh that's right.....you've got 4 whole friends.

Only 2 people in the world would know that. I guess I have Un-Masked the Knight.....shock

@RonaldJosephCote-----it comes naturally for Hiram to "derail" threads...he IS a "train-wreck", after all!

Avatar of RaistlinOfKrynn

He's also a hypocrite---remember the old expression "he can dish it out but he can't take it"?? That's *him*...he constantly posts negative things across the Forums, but as soon as someone starts in on HIM, off he goes whining to the Mods and gets the person admonished...

Tonight, NASA is planning on slamming a rocket into an asteroid. Known as the DART project.

They're just doing it out of frustration at all the Artemis delays.

So NASA shot a bullet from planet earth, and hit their target 6.8 million miles away. surprise   Either the're very good marksmen...... or the're REAL good sharp-shooters.wink

Avatar of Elroch

Here's the final approach. Quite exciting!

In case there was any seriousness in that, it's worth pointing out that they could not do that. They had to adjust the trajectory to be on target. The last set of course adjustments was at a distance of 1500-740 km from the asteroid, lining it up perfectly.  Of course with the idea in mind of changing the trajectory, the point of impact is important. I think it would be ideal to arrange to arrive from the desired direction of velocity change and hit dead centre.

You are a genuine fruitcake? I thought you were joking.

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

Elroch, I was dead serious about the marksman comment. They compensated for those trajectory changes. They hit a target 6.8 million miles away......which is exactly what they were aiming for. They have the science and the know-how, and the skill to do that.  I can't even throw something in the trash without missing....frustrated   After reading your comment again, I realize you're not trying to dismiss my comment....your just taking the "pure" science stance. Its dam impressive no matter how you look at it.                              "This day in History"......... A win for the scientist and astronomers.

I was replying to Hiram.

He has confirmed that he is one of the air-headed deniers of space science.

I honestly do not believe they did that. Too far away..too small a target.

It still kind of boggles my mind there are people walking around thinking the Earth is flat.

Well, they better watch their step and stay behind the guardrails or they’ll fall off. 😆

And a vast, exponentially growing, international space industry responsible for launching over 11,000 satellites and other spacecraft, over 7,000 or which remain in space, mostly for commercial purposes. [The reason manned space travel has been mainly restricted to low Earth orbit is simply a matter of cost-benefit. Travel to the Moon or further costs billions.

Of the world's 200 nations, 10 have independently launched rockets as far as low Earth orbit, and 547 people of 37 nationalities have gone to space.

And there are people who deny this exists, believing all those involved across the world (and their huge number of clients) have been involved in a giant conspiracy for over half a century!

Don't be so "open-minded" your brains fall out. grin.png
