Are you looking for good chess movies? Are you going to tell me about good chess movies?
I have seen a few moves being made in movies and TV shows, but of no interest to a chess player!

There are movies with chess scenes, but aside from "Searching for Bobby Fischer," what other movies about chess are there?
Someone has allready mentioned " Searching For Bobby Fischer " which is a nice family movie. More for adults is " The Luzhin Defence " ( my spelling may be off ) which is also very well made.
I recently watched a french movie called "Queen to play" which stars Kevin Kline ( in his first french speaking role) and it was very enchanting. Briefly, its about a married woman Helene, played by Sandrine Bonnaire, who buys an electronic chess set for her husband, Andre, played by Francis Renaud. Andre isn't interested very much and doesn't want to play. Helene on the other hand becomes almost obsessed with the game, sneaking out of bed early hours of the morning to play chess. By day she cleans the home of a widower Dr Kroger ( Kevin Kline) and sees he has a chess set ( beautiful wooden foldable board that holds Staunton style peice ). She challenges Dr Kroger to play and at first he refuses, but Helene presses on and they end up setting the board and play. Dr Kroger is an excellent chess player ( I'd say he was rated at least 2000) and he checkmates Helene. helene begs Kroger to teach her to play better even offering to clean his home for free. They agree to meet every Tuesday at 4pm to play and learn, and a type of affair develops, yet only over the chess board. Very seductive and full of tension. Helene starts to see chess in everything around her, e g, Crumbs at the restaurant, perfumes bottles on her dressing table and also starts to see moves on the giant chess board made of tiles outside the hotel she works at. Amazing to see Helene develop a latent talent that even Dr Kroger can see and explains to her that there are chess players who dream of seeing the board as she does. By this time she is beating Kroger in every game, and so he tells her she is ready to expand her knowledge and talent to a upcoming tournament. A wonderful and sometimes sad movie and I guarantee that you will fall in love with Helene as I did. For me, the movie, would probably be of most interest to the mature viewer and a romantic at heart. Hope you enjoy it.
That was great. I was almost sleeping already from watching this movie, but that woke me up again.
Fresh is the best chess movie I've ever seen.
Better than Searching for Bobby Fischer. Definetely for an adult audience.

Is there any chess movies that DO NOT have any murder in it(other than searching for bobby fischer)?
My favourite movie ever is this. It's an older Dutch one from 2000, and it's a very feelgood-movie and made by the granddaughter of worldchampion Max Euwe.

Ok, so here's the best chess movie I've ever seen and probably the best I'll ever see. It's called "La diagonale du fou" (The Diagonal of the Bishop, but Bishop is "Fou" in French which also means lunatic). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQdYKZha_xw It's a french movie (or maybe from Switzerland) and it's Really About Chess if you know what I mean (chess here is not just a dumb excuse to talk about something else). It's based on some famous chess anecdotes (especially during the encounter Korchnoi/Karpov). It's also very well written and directed. The story is very deep and the chess positions they show sometimes are actually interesting (not the typical mate in 1 position with the other king in check by 4 pieces). The characters have very unique personalities, worthy of brilliant chess players.
The link I posted has Spanish subtitles so I hope you know Spanish or French. But you can look for it with English subtitles somewhere else I guess.
