Anyone can trial a premium membership for free for 1 month - it doesn't have to be gifted to you from anyone.

Click on @Shaun's profile and you'll see that he is the Support Director, so he's a pretty senior staff member and would have the abilty and authority to give out a free premium membership. The question is, why would he do that? Chess.com sometimes does that for people who have been helpful in the forumsm such as the moderators, or where there's been an issue that hasn't been that member's fault, but he wouldn't just give away a membership because you ask for it. Maybe he'd give you another 1 month trial if you'd already used your initial 1 month trial, but it wou;dn't be an ongoing premium membership - why would he?
