i apologize for the lame title. cc doesn't like members' names in topic titles for some inane reason.

i apologize again for using 'reason' and 'cc' in the same sentence.

itude has apparently been banned. i guess he was given a six month mute, which is plain stupid. i have no idea why it was done, but since it was, it brings up two points.

the first is that itude's ban has not led to much outrage. i think that speaks volumes. step back for a minute and think how you would react if members like bunny, drspud, bfs, or batgirl are banned. even if you might not read them frequently, you would read about them a lot if cc banned them. what we have seen with the itude ban is him coming back with at least two different accounts, beating around the bush about why he was banned, and insinuating that his wealth will create havoc for the site.

arrogant, as usual.

secondly, i don't know why itude was banned. I don't care for the character one bit, but, it raises the question of how the site operates and at what level do these bans occur. that cc remains secretive about what they do on this is bullsh*t. transparency quells all questioners.

as long as the actions are fair.

and i'm speaking as one that has been previously banned and muted many times (three times this year).

Ok, first let's get some basics out of the way...

A lot of the new mods are young and dumb. They don't really understand the rules, at least not as well as some long time members... and they sure as hell don't understand the culture. If you mention someone who has been banned, they might say it's naming and shaming, or discussing the "c word" even though it's not even a member anymore, and it wasn't c-word-ing.

Anyway...

I mean... did you know the guy?

He probably deserved it right?

Oh, so you did know him.

That's adorable.

>90% of chess.com forum go-ers weren't even born when those users were active. I could have understood if you'd made this topic in a private group, but in the general forums?

Anyway, the only one the kids have a hope of recognizing is bunny, who stays active in off topic.

Actually they should know Itude too. He did some membership giveaways... but spud? Batgirl? They'd ask you "who?"

Ok, but back on topic...

I like to imagine it like this... it was some simple reason like an auto mute, but Itdue is cantankerous by nature, so he escalates things.

Chess.com is, by nature, dumb and lazy when it comes to the forums, so they react in the most legalistic way possible and ban him for an inane amount of time in hopes that he'll e-mail staff with a mea culpa... which is a fancy way of saying Erik wants his d*** polished, but Itude isn't much of a shoe shiner...

So here we are, the result of bad decisions on both sides.

Itdue will either tire himself out, or do like you and I have done a few times by now, shoot an e-mail to staff saying... whatever they want us to say "I promise not to take Erik's name in vain, now kindly fk off."

Currently we're still in the initial phase of the thing.

So to sum up drunk llama:

I don't like:

Itude, the OP, chess.com forums, the people who post in chess.com forums, the people who moderate chess.com forums, the people who founded chess.com, and the rules of chess.com.

Hmm, llama seems to be pretty disagreeable.

llama47

Wow, just now I got another red banner from a quote-trap.

As usual, active people over the age of 10 get the slow but inevitable count-down-to-auto-mute treatment.

Same old IIama47 ......who likes to take centre stage on these sort of occasions , and make a complete joke of himself 🤷‍♂️

i need to learn how to quote as you do (pm me with how it is done-for clarity). since i do not know this method, i will respond thusly, using the copy/paste method.

"A lot of the new mods are young and dumb. They don't really understand the rules"

that is a fail of staff.

">90% of chess.com forum go-ers weren't even born when those users were active. I could have understood if you'd made this topic in a private group, but in the general forums?"

hehe! you're obviously drunk (not that there's anything wrong with that)!! this topic is a provocation. if i posted it in any group i am in, the results would be minimal and probably reserved to "itude sucks". the public forums are where itude posted.

"Itdue will either tire himself out, or do like you and I have done a few times by now, shoot an e-mail to staff saying... whatever they want us to say "I promise not to take Erik's name in vain, now kindly fk off."

this is a pretty good description of how i react to being muted!

you are wrong. he is an intelligent fellow that speaks his mind. you may disagree, but it is inaccurate (being polite) to write that he makes a joke of himself.

Vibhansh_Alok

Why on earth everything here becomes so damn controversial....how far will this go? He’s gonna make some Itude.com like Reddit or something? Just to criticise chess.com employees....llama is right they both have much time to spend

itude.com

haha!

MGleason

If @Itude is not certain why he was banned, he can contact support.

However, that information will not be given to anyone else.  The reason for his ban is a private matter between him and chess.com.  Chess.com will not share information about your account with other people - even if they decide you need banned.

If he chooses to share his side of the story on social media or elsewhere, he's welcome to do so.  But chess.com will not respond to confirm or deny whatever he may say.

Itude certainly has a way of upsetting some folk here but its difficult to understand how he has received a mute of 6 months.

He has never , as far as Im aware used bad language, been racist, been critical of certain sections of society , unlike many folk Ive seen over the years who are still here and active.

If he has broken some site rules that deserve ' punishment' then so be it, but  things have certainly been handled badly at some level here for this situation to arise.

Ive also seen plenty of abuse for him from folk who as far as I can see have never had any dealings or contact with him before, but now emerge from wherever to throw their stones. ( Dont mean you  Al.)

p.s.     Ive been here for a while now, and dont know 'Bunny'   .

From what I can see, the account was only muted by the auto-mod twice in the past 12 months. The others were manual mutes, though it didn't look like quite 8, since March of 2020.

As to the mistaken recent mute, it actually was valid. I had unmuted at that time because I misread the logs and missed what was flagged. So the whole mistaken mute discussion came from a post I made, which was a mistake

The main reason that his ban didn't outrage anyone is bc Itude himself was the person who would protest against chess.com the most, and his fans would follow him. Now that he's gone, his fans have no organized leader.
