You're 100% right here, and it's a large part of why otf doesn't target more interesting people here anymore: because those people don't want to be in a place where they are afraid to speak their mind for any reason. The only people who genuinely enjoy being part of a hive mind of poor quality junk like heated and person above you threads are young children who simply don't really even know these other topics exist.

I don’t usually like talking about politics and religion in a chaotic setting on OTF. If I were to speak my mind on these topics here in Texas, I’d get beat up and befriended by everyone I knew. So I come online and choose to do so.

It is useful. The problem is, when I debate someone I heavily disagree with, I go into this crazy state of mind and type super fast. Sometimes I’m nice about it, but I’m usually just super critical and a little rude.
But, it is what it is. This is OTF.
Welp I feel really stupid about reviving this now lol. I couldn't help myself tho, I missed all the drama yesterday because I was busy with homework and such.

I’m not delusional. I’m just passionate about certain topics and can’t help when people disagree. I’m not too sure why, but it’s not the worst thing in the world. I find that it’s better to have a debate with someone than to watch from the sidelines.

I want you all to know that if I’m ever rude to you all in a debate, that I don’t dislike you as a person, and I probably don’t even completely dislike your views.
My craziness and interesting style of conversation in these kind of threads is a reflection of everything I’ve thought and want to say in real life. Consider these kind of threads a venting section for me. It’s hard living in a place where you have to be religious, on one side of the political spectrum, or else nobody will respect you or your views. It’s easier online, since I don’t know any of you and don’t care too much about you guys think.
Until the next heated debate. I’ll be there…
