Coffee Coffee Coffee
We have a Mr. Coffee 12-cup, stainless brushed steel housing. I recently bought my wife a General Electric pot that grinds the beans and then dumps them into the filter basket. It was the messiest, nastiest thing you've ever seen in your entire life. We took it back. Nothing beats our Mr. Coffee and we've had a couple different ones over the years.
Curious: does anyone use a French press? I have no friends who do. Maybe one, actually.
Ah, i LOVE coffee!! I drink 3 cups a day at least most days, sometimes more depending. I like strong (really strong; like black, even tar-like!) coffee [3-4 spoonfulls but i have been cutting down]. No milk.
I read someplace that runners drink coffee before they go running for a boost in energy, and i run alot so i tend to drink alot of coffee. Oh yea!!
I must admit i dont like all these coffee houses, like starbucks and west coast. Too much 'yuppy' culture there for my liking. Im a proper coffee drinker... i drink it alone at home, not on a sofa in town among failing students ha My addiction to coffee is pathetic i know.
. But here's a great tip from my fiancee: She puts the sugar in the filter before the grounds for the whole pot. Then when it's brewed it's done, perfectly sweetened and ready to go.Huh...never heard of that. Interesting. We'll give that a go.
I too love coffee. I roast my own. Favorites are Monsooned Malabar, and the Ethiopian coffees.
I know this is heresy, and comes under the you-don’t-have-to-drink-it category, but I like to brew about 2/3 decaf with 1/3 caf so I can drink more without over buzzing. I get Columbian, Guatemalan Antigua, and Ethiopian in decaf beans and Ethiopian and MM in caf beans.
Also heresy, but when I brew I’ll go about 50% home roast and 50% Folgers from a can. I find the Folgers mellows the taste a little, and stretches out my home roasting labor, and tastes plenty good mixed with the 50% home roasted.
I’ll brew for example:
1/3 MM, 1/6 Columbian decaf, ½ Folgers decaf
1/3 Ethiopian, 1/6 Ethiopian decaf, ½ Folgers decaf
2/3 Ethiopian decaf, 1/3 Folgers regular.
Or at night, maybe all decaf consisting of 50% home roast decaf, 50% Folgers decaf.
I usually just drip brew, but sometimes French press for more solids. Just like with microbrew beer, solids are good! More flavor.
I drink it either black or with some fake sugar (to keep the calories down) and NF milk.
My wife loves coffee too, but doesn’t want to do the labor for home roasting. She’ll drink watered down Folgers. Yuck. Or she’s happy to partake in my home roast when I brew it.
You know,
When I read posting #1, I found it funny to hear about an American loving coffee. The posting above really just confirms the source of my amusement.
No disrespect intended, but coffee in America is generally atrocious, and you really would need to grind your own beans to get a decent cup.
I hope there are some coffee stores near you, or perhaps you can order a grinder and beans online. You'll be in heaven, believe me, and you'll never touch Community Pecan Praline again
Being from the UK and saying that, you've obviously never had my brand: Community. Made in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unbelievably good. You're missing out.

You're right, I haven't tried your brand. But my experiences with what Americans label as 'coffee' lead me to believe that it would suck! However, if I was ever down in your neck of the woods, I'd certainly try it.
The best place I've ever had coffee was in The Netherlands. They take their coffee so seriosuly there, that it is not considered unusual for a Dutch familty to pack coffe beans and a grinder when they go on vacation abroad!
Where's the best place you've had coffee outside the USA?

So I'm a coffee lover. Really. I mean, really. I drink one (1) brand and one (1) type of coffee inside this brand because I have tried it all and nothing touches the one I like (which I will disclose later). I don't like Starbucks. My coffee love goes beyond that. I do like Coffee Beanery - way better than Starbucks.
Now, I'm a coffee lover, so coffee, not cappuccinos or lattes, is my deal. But I love those, too. So here is my coffee insanity, and you may enter yours.
