Food warning for peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots bought at Trader Joes, Costco, a Wegmans or Sam's Club Jul. 21- 2014

"If you recently bought fruit from Trader Joe's, Costco, a Wegman's  or Sam's Club, you might want to hold off enjoying it and making sure it's not part of a fruit recall.

The Wawona Packing Company of California is recalling peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots that maybe potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytognes. They were sold at the two wholesale clubs and food market. While no illness has yet been reported, consumers are being urged to not eat the fruit as Listeria can bring on serious illness and even potentially death."

It's good you'll telling people this, the more people who know about this the better.  You might have just saved some people from getting sick!  Good job tonightatsix!

Thanks winerkleiner :)  My best friend and her husband got hepatitis for eating a big bag of mixed berries bought at Costco like a year ago (I am not making this up.  They issued a recall after a lot of people got sick)  At the time, my best friend's husband got very sick and her 3-yr old son escaped because he doesn't like to eat berries(thank goodness).  They are now a part of class action lawsuit against Cosco.

It is very unfortunate that these things happen :(  BTW, I think I should have put the date in the title, so that people don't have to look at it after a while.

Glad to hear of their 3 year old not eating the poison berries!  One less thing to worry about!

I wonder if Costco knew of the dainted berries?

Yes, winerkleiner, it's incredible that my firend's little one didn't eat the  berries.  I can't imagine Costco knew that the berries were tainted.  Think of the amount of money they have to shell out bacause of the lawsuit now.  I mean how much profit can they make by selling berries?

Good point.  Costco is a very big company so the suit will sting some but it won't cripple them.  I wonder how they missed those dainted berries the first place.
