I'm sure the new face mask guidelines and Trump's speech about them are going to be discussed...here's an article on that:

Note the Yahoo News link for what is actually a NY Times article...aggregated news in action .

Seems like no one on the task force is following their own guidelines. No masks on any of them (although the new guidelines do say masks are optional.) Not really adhering to the distancing guidelines.  The Surgeon General did put up a video on how to make a simple mask, so i guess that's progress, but I bet none them will ever wear a mask at the briefings.

Regarding points of disagreement between Trump and the medical experts, i'm wondering why the reporters at the briefings haven't asked the experts such as Fauci and Birx more pointed questions about that.  The Q&A portion of the briefings seem to go on forever.

I thought it was very odd when Trump announced the new CDC guidelines about wearing face masks, then immediately stated that wearing masks was voluntary and that he wouldn't be wearing any masks himself. I thought the administration could have sent a strong message to the public if they had all shown up for the news briefing wearing masks.

Then, it all made sense when I later read this article:

the way the virus is happening in the states is worrying , the fact that healthcare costs an arm and a leg there concerns me that not all will be able to get healthcare there , i hope the govt now push for universal healthcare regardless of income free at the point of need like our health service

FACTS ABOUT COVID-19:

1. IT'S PROTEIN CAP MELTS UNDER HEAT (wait for summer)

2. THE CORONAVIRUS ONLY AFFECTS PEOPLE WITH WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEMS (sorry babies and old people)
Khannate1

another sector of society that through lack of good diet are also have more vulnerable immune systems , could also be considered , and we are in a time where poverty is rising , mainly down to austerity

Maybe, but the economy is crashing faster than it did in the great depression, and that's no lie

The way of how people react against this threat pissed me off. I think that the solution is simple:
1)Everybody washes his hands;
2)the sick people shall be transfered into jail, and of course, be treated there;
3)doctors must work everyday until they find a vaccine.

Am confined since unce upon a time, sorry for my rudeness !

Meanwhile the facts.

Total, yes, but to be fair the US testing rate by population lags behind many countries, and the testing started woefully late, which is one reason why the testing numbers are so huge now.

The second sentence (and your "worry about your own country" mindset and previous post history here factored in) have reluctantly bought you a block at his point.

Look, I have no set agenda for blocking people, but if posts continue to push the envelope over and over again, I have no choice, really.  In this case, Llama and Haverum are going back and forth, but the point of no return is when somebody decides to attack the other person directly, as in "And the angry llama hates his own country and anybody that has an opposing opinion."

Sources are required for claims like these.  As pointed out by someone else already, point 2 is demonstrably false with even the briefest of research.  Point 1 is still under debate.  Point 3 might be true or not true depending on what metric you have chosen to single-handedly represent "the economy".  If you mean the stock markets, say that.  If you mean unemployment rate, say that.  Etc.

Precision and sources will go a long way towards keeping the conversation from spiraling out of control.

no apologies needed for being angry about the situation strnge master but being ill is not a crime so locking up every virus sufferer in a jail seems a bit harsh mate

Yep, I saw that.  I'm trying not to be the person posting the bulk the new articles as time goes on.  Honestly, though, this thread topic is going to tend to "lose" as many people as it gains, and I'm not sure is can survive long term in *any* form wink.png.  Which is a sad commentary on where civility and reasonable discourse are heading in the next several decades...

So I try to leave it alone and post articles of interest once or twice a day after other people have had a chance to bring things up first.  So thanks for bringing it up wink.png.  Feel free to post the link.

The US's rate of infection is faster than any other country, plus right now we have the highest number of people infected.

Meanwhile the facts.

The US has tested more of its citizens and reported accurately more than any other nation. And the angry llama hates his own country and anybody that has an opposing opinion.

That's a silly measure, that's something they'd try to fool you with on Fox news.

It's like saying the state of Pennsylvania has tested more people than a small English village of 100 people. So what? Testing less than 1% of people would be enough for that. The point is we've tested fewer per capita, in other words a smaller percentage, which is a failure of the government.

And if criticizing the government or people in government is hating the country, then no one hates it more than Trump. His whole campaign was how America and the people in charge are terrible. So childish taunts like "you just hate America" are doubly ineffective.

I imagine it will improve quite a lot in the next several decades. This is a low point. Sure we can go lower, but not much. I'm sure young people are watching the $hit show and will grow tired of it. We'll have a resurgence of reasonable thought.
