Their thoughts on the matter are indeed their right, and it stops right there.  Which, appropriately enough, brings me to my next point.  This thread is for discussing Covid-19...do you have anything on topic to contribute, or will kvetching about the man keeping you down be your only input?

Nobody is forced to be vaccinated.  That is a false narrative.  If you don't want to be vaccinated and still work in a certain career/sector...then you might have a problem.

Saying “get vaccinated or get fired” is manipulation, and is essentially the same thing

I assume you don't pay your taxes.  Or obey traffic signals.  Or buy car insurance.  Or keep your money in a bank.  Or wait in line at grocery stores.  Or...you get the idea...

I do all those things, and now you’re attacking the person and not the argument, which is the weakest thing a debater can do

No, I am making a comparison and a valid point about your statements.  If you consider that post a personal attack, then you're going to have a hard time making it through life wink.png.

Again - if only they had thought about it - instead of being manipulated by the disinformation people.
And as for 'making them do something' if that's to be blamed on someone that would be the Disinfo people.
And since they're dead - it would be too late to try to righteously discuss with them why and how the Disinfo is Disinfo.

Lots of people aren’t getting it simply because people are trying to make them, I know people who refuse to get it because they’re tired of all the manipulation to get it.

That's one of the reasons why over 210 of the over 220 countries in the world have not made vaccination mandatory throughout that big majority of countries.

But they continue to make sure those people are locked in their homes… sounds like freedom to me

No.  Quarantining usually only occurs if one tests positive.
And many people would be willing to voluntarily quarantine anyway.
Would everyone want to run around spreading Covid ?
Or possibly spreading it?  Including to other countries ?
Not everybody is like Novak Djokovic.

Nope, I’ve got nothing about the COVID-19 virus specifically other than this… it’s a sickness, it sucks, I had it 3 weeks ago with a terrible fever and now my lungs hurt if I do anything too active. It has killed people and that sucks, and my condolences go out to everyone who has lost a friend or family member to it.

I’m glad there is a vaccination for those who need or want it, and I support whichever choice you make, for or against getting it. I will not support you if you’re trying to force or manipulate people who do or don’t want it though.

thanks for listening to my Ted Talk

I stay home when I’m sick, I think people who walk around with fevers are being dumb. But I’m not talking about quarantining, I’m talking about stopping people from going anywhere unless they’re vaccinated, and stopping businesses from choosing who they do and do not want in their place. And stopping people from having people in their own homes.

An analogy:

In wartime - there's often been a curfew.
And people are asked to not have their lights on at night.
To use a flashlight or whatever.
Or cover the windows so the lights don't show.
Why - because enemy planes and ships can use the lights as guides.

So - if somebody wants to have their lights on and the blinds open at night - during wartime - as an expression of their civil Liberty ....
then others who tell them to turn off their lights are 'bad guys' ?
Villains?  Commies?
Suggestion: its those people being Intensely Selfish - and endangering everyone - who are at fault.  Major fault.
As are those who demonize others who would prefer that the deaths and sickness and casualties are reduced.  Very reduced.

How can you compare not getting vaccinated to “not waiting in line at grocery stores?” That is literally one of the silliest arguments I’ve ever heard, and if there is a point to that comment, I don’t think anyone in their right mind could find it.

Wartime is an actual emergency, COVID is no longer an emergency now that there is a working vaccine. Therefore the government has no right to mandate what people do right now, unless it breaks a law that has been voted in. That is how democracy works

In South Korea - they worked hard to identify who had come into the country bringing the disease with them.
They traced it.  Interviewed people.  Tested them.
Quarantined those in who were in contact and who tested positive.
Result:  the authorities saved millions of lives.

In restaurants - when somebody tests positive - the staff will sometimes send the whole shift home - tell them to see if they get symptoms and also to quarantine - and get tested.  Even though vaccinated.
How do I know?  A friend is a manager in such a restaurant.
Does the restaurant want everybody to get Covid?
Do they want to spread it to customers too?

Death is 'liberty'?

"Wartime is an actual emergency, COVID is no longer an emergency now that there is a working vaccine"
Covid is an emergency too.  The virus is around.  All the time.
And one could argue forever about the semantics of 'emergency'.
With human lives hanging in the balance of what a dictionary might include.
Life usually wins. Not the dictionary.
Not always though.  Sometimes illogic and disaster triumph.
As they have so many times throughout the Covid pandemic.

A large number of deaths have been caused by people saying
"hey its over !  There's a vaccine"
That's Covid Disinformation.
Notice it contradicts other Covid Disinformation that 'vaccines don't work'.
That's one of the things that happen among the Covid disinformation people.
They contradict each other.  Constantly.  Without even realizing.
But even when they do realize - they don't care.
They see 'the enemy' or 'their targets' as the people who do care and who are doing the right things.
And when people are doing the right things - if you look closely - you'll usually  find those 'right things' don't contradict each other.
When they seem to - paradox isn't contradiction.
But with invalid positions - it isn't paradox.
Its what often happens with misguided things.
They contradict.  Contradict each other.

To some that may be true!

The cemeteries are chalk full of people who have 'liberty' from their problems.

"Give me liberty or give me death !"
But what about 'Give me (and us) Life !  '

How will me not being vaccinated hurt you? I generally don’t chose to hang round people who think I’m scum for a personal choice

Maybe so but their spirits may be somewhere else.

No XxP1NKxX I was referring to post #3795.

TheSheeshKid

I’m going to stop arguing as I’ve shared my opinion and you’ve shared yours, you know where I stand and I know where you do. There is no point in beating a dead horse, so to speak. Your Conscience is obviously clear, and so is mine. That is the best we can do right now as we’re obviously not changing each other’s minds. Long comment short: we’re going to have to agree to disagree. I hope you have a good week.

God Bless

God bless you too!
