Wow..
I haven't thought that there could be cricket fan from Spain as well.
Don't change your mind. The only sport I understand are walking races.

Very pleasing to have fans from Italy and Spain involved, unfortunately can't see them being in a World Cup any time soon... They're both struggling around in the low divisions of qualifying and I think at least one of them is below the likes of Jersey and Guernsey!
West Indies can do well if things click. A lot of good players, and the likes of Gayle can almost win a game on their own, but they're probably too erratic - beating Scotland by just 3 runs the other day and losing a f ew too.
Neither Afghanistan (played 0) nor Scotland (lost 8/8) have ever won a World Cup game, while the UAE have only beaten the Netherlands. Ireland, by contrast, have the biggest ever score batting second for a World Cup win, so one of the best ever wins!
New Zealand have reached the semi finals 6 times before and lost them all. Surely one of them or New Zealand will make their first final this year?!
Scotland have a good chance of winning the World Cup if they put bag pipe players in the crowd. This musical technique might irritate the opposing team into playing like the Brunswick under 8's.
I think Scotland had a tie once in the 2007 world cup (I'm not 100% sure about that, so don't quote me), but this year's tournament is kinder to the associates because of the format. Every team is guaranteed 6 games if there are no washouts, plus there are two associates in each group so surely one in each group will have a win.
Is Scotland playing?
Hold your kilts! The haggis hasn't cooked yet!
I know that the spirit of Football World Cup 1974 still resonates strongly in your sporran. But there aren't any goalposts in this sport. And the maiden that you get can't get cuddly with you after midnight.
Enjoy this nostalgia.

But Scotland beating anyone at cricket? It was easier for the highland clans to win at Culloden.
One thing about Scotland and cricket though. A Scottish umpire couldn't have made a worse error in that England and Australia game. I knew that Anderson wasn't out. The ICC has now admitted that he wasn't.
These people are paid to be umpires??????????? In all the sport I have played with no money at stake if there was a rules dispute:
get the rules book, open it to the relevant part and make a ruling based on that. I have seen that happen every time.
The only excuses I could think of for the umpires were 1) they thought the run-out happened before Taylor was given out, or 2) the decision was made late enough that it didn't actually affect the run... No doubt it was the wrong call, but those are the only reasons for the decision I could think of.
BTW are there any scottish umpires? At all? Anywhere??? :)
I'm not sure. I expect that there would be some Scottish ICC accredicted umpires. Imagine a Scottish umpire giving you out :
"Och wee Laddie, outtt!"
I've taken a look to cricket at the wikipedia. Seems even more incomprehensible than the posts on this thread.
Rolf Harris? He never lived in Australia. He lived on top of a lighthouse with his British paints. So he's yours. Your paint. Your Rolf.

Thta is true. Cricket is a very, very hard game to understand. I would say that gridiron and cricket are probbaly the two most complex sports on the planet. The terms [ maiden over, googly etc] , the notation [ 3/78 etc] and the tactics [ different kinds of bowlers who go around wicket etc] must be mind boggling, in all seriousnessm to people who see cricket for the first time.
I don't know if even I [ I have grown up with it since I was 3] can explain it.

Test cricket is easy to understand if you're taught it young by someone who has alot of patience. it's gradual learning, but it doesn't help to make the one day stuff attractive. 80,000 people today in Melbourne at the match though, so it's a popular form of the game.
South Africa answered the question of what happens if Amla and AB fail very well - with unbeaten hundreds from Miller and Duminy! Endless batting, a 250+ partnership to rescue them from 83-4. Zimbabwe did fairly well actually, clearly a good start to their bowling and they weren't blown away by SA's strong bowling line up. Perhaps they're one to watch with a chance of making the QFs
Yes I agreed S.Africa did well with the batting later on. With India and Pakinstan is looking pretty even with the Pak chasing the target of 301.
SA will need to switch on if they're going to be realistic contenders- It was only a freak two-man effort that saved them from an embarassing loss today. That said, if they can make that many runs even when Amla, De Villiers and De Kock all fail...
P.S How good has the fielding been??? There's already been at least three or four amazing catches and it's only the second day. Hopefully it keeps up all tournament.
