Debating over debate itself (only pure debate related please)

The punk ethos for me was don't let other people get your kicks for you,  NO MORE heroes! The system had made Gods of musicians, they were sanctified and set apart from normal humans elevating themselves on a plastic and transparent pedestal.  The 'we are stardust and we are golden' and other self indulgent and self aggrandizing hippy drivel was not going to cut it when reality started to make inroads. The elitism was too readily apparent and the kids started to resent it. 

I've had the same issue with the punk aristocrats, yeah.

5 years long, I can make a list of who's been helpfull, who's been harmfull and so on. 5 years is 5 blooday winters and a life time of unrest and deadly dangers. And this is the perfect place to see and judge who is who. You want to advocate the gays? But why? They are evil people with nothing good in their heart, as proved by reality. You want to bash the religious people? Maybe you should have been out there in their place, when Salvation Army was the only to offer me a free hot drink at 6am in snowy January.

At some stage, you guys have got a big mouth, just wide enough for some -18 related video performance.

Agreed!  This I think is why Kurt Cobain done for himself (with possibly a little help from Courtney), he became the very thing that he loathed and the hypocrisy became self evident.  How to keep the punk ethos alive with promoters and record companies pushing him out there?
