AA, particularly young urban male AA in large police jursidictions, are very disproportionately involved in violent criminal activity, so it is to be expected that violent interactions with the police will also be higher. I am surprised that the discrepancy is not higher. That said, there have been a number of police killings that were not justified and should be or have been prosecuted. I am hopeful that body cams will improve behavior on both the police and public's side and reduce tension by providing an avenue to resolve disputes over what really occurred. It is clear that many police have a culture of covering up errors and excessive force and it is also clear that witnesses/criminals often lie about police activities to make them look like victims of police brutality.
