Earth is flat. Prove me wrong.

You need to prove yourself right, before we can prove you wrong... Superman0101

superman... you hereby flunk the debate course

mdinnerspace

Alot of if's.. if this, if that ,blah blah blah. I have been to the edge, looked over and saw the light.

mdinnerspace

That's more like it super..Newtons measurements of gravity. Now we're talking some hard evidence. Get off this satellite thing and get back to earth with more factual facts.

Ships ventured far and wide, way before traditionally accepted views. Sure they got lost venturing into unknown seas. but managed to return to port.

Consider this... when the 1st European sailors reached the coast of Central America they anchored off shore at the horizon. The natives never saw the ships sitting there right in front of their eyes. They had never seen a ship before , they did not exist. The medicine man observed small waves coming on shore, without any apparent reason. He looked and looked and then he saw the ships! He took his tribe to the shore, and after pleading, look...look, only then did the natives see the ships. True

This story shows how everything us not the way we think it is or how we think it should be.

Lol.. Columbus shattered the myth of a flat earth. Hehe

The myth had been shattered for 1000's years before. Columbus had in his possession maps that were dated pre 1000AD.

mdinnerspace

True story super. It has been faithfully recorded and past down by these people.

mdinnerspace

You ever looked for something, say a pencil, looked right at it but never saw it, because it was not in its usual place?

mdinnerspace

Of course you have, everybody else too.

pawnzischeme

The point is, I have looked all over my property and all of the surrounding land as far as I can see, and with binoculars.  I don't see any ships.

Case closed.

Sty away from the edge.  The earth is generally loose there.

mdinnerspace

@superman... now what did you go and do that for? How childish of you to post in my notes your feeble attempt to insult me. You obviously have taken this way, way too seriously. Evident by your long and tedious entries. Get a real life. Proving your superior intellect is just foolishment.

mdinnerspace

A fun thread, a distraction from all the political bs that goes on elsewhere. Lighten up...OK?

What????

Superman, why don't you just bring a camera with you the next time that you fly out into space in order to prove to everyone here that the earth is indeed round and settle this debate once and for all? Cool

I don't think superman knows what a joke is.

pawnzischeme

Debate is something I can agree with.  I have bait in my garage refrigerator: flatworms.  Again, Coincidence, i think Not.

Superman, don't leave us.  I'm on the verge of coming over to your side.  I'm on the "edge."  (See how I did that)

On the edge........OMG.....mind you don't fall off into space. Surprised

mdinnerspace

In theory, it is possible to reach the edge and peer over, proving the earth to be flat. All attempts thus far have met with failure. As Newtons 8th law tells us, the farther one travels from the center of a spinning disk, centrifugal forces increase proportionally. The closest man has come to the edge is 89.24 miles when the expedition was literally hurled into space , never to be heard from again. NASA is taking my suggestion of a giant tether at the next go of it.

tyzombiecrusher

If earth is flat, what happens when you get to the edge? does this mean the history books are lying?

mdinnerspace

Enlightenment...tyzomb. Mankind will finally be able to build a launch platform and send our rockets to the moon. No point in building a platform near the center of our flat disk world. The rockets can only go straight up. But a launch platform near to edge will provide a slingshot effect, solving trajectory problems.
