Ah yes, the endless stream of greetings. Because stating your opinion and putting thought into your posts is a cliché.

I think that we agreed that Eliza was, in truth, a rather poor emulation of a real Rogerian psychiatrist.
True. Its sentences stopped adhering to the rules of grammar at some point. A real psychiatrist would help you be honest with yourself, not merely repeat what you said back at you. They’d ask a few questions, nudge you in the right direction. Make sure you identified your issues and developed the capacity to honour your commitments regarding elimination of those issues.

To be fair, the repeating back - asking questions about what had just been said - is a genuine part of Rogerian psychotherapy. It was, however, unable to ensure the replies even made sense or were grammatical.

It was not untypical of pure Rogerian stiff, which some people find incredibly frustrating, whereas some do not. Minus its obvious "errors" of course.

Yes, it's not the be all and end all, but it does suggest good ways of getting more use from AIs, by focusing on benefit to the user. I will say however, that you shouldn't treat its initial response as comprehensive - there is always room for adding other things it has omitted.
And now I'm thinking this is a bit of an odd fit here, because it involves nothing about psychotherapy!
Elroch, what was the theme for this thread? You usually have a clear theme around which the discussion centers. What made you want to create this thread? What was going through your head?
It is somewhat humorous that you feel that video was an odd fit. Certainly made me mentally chuckle.

Unlike some other forums this had a very narrow initial topic, just a way to draw attention to something I thought was amusing and thought provoking. Perhaps I could change the title to avoid creating a broader-themed forum?
I have to be likewise amused that your post seems to analysing me.
