Um....the ice age does not come in 65 million year cycles.

Hmmmm, so now your position is that the world is getting hotter (that is undeniable ) but that it is natural. Firwst of all the entire scientific community disagrees with you. However, lets temporarily believe your nonsense. Even then we should take measures to stop our addition to the earth's temperature. If my car is leaking gas, I woild be an idiot if I thought,"I can drive as fast as I want because my leak wastes more gas then me accelerating.

Where did you get those doctored graphs from? Rush Limbaugh, climate depot? Primary sources please!!!

Avatar of fischerman_bob

please give the primary site that Rush (or climate depot or whatever right wing blog) got that graph from. It is purposely misleading. The primary site will set things straight.

I must admit that this is to easy. Me and the entire world's scientific community vs Jamie.

Even an idiot can win this debate. Its like debating a flat earther.

I have come to the conclusion that JamieDeLaRosa can't manage simple arithmetic which is so helpful to intuition and understanding.

For example, his own graph shows a sea level rise of less than 2 meters over the last 5000 years. This amounts to less than 0.4 millimeters per year. Moreover, the curve is flattening, as the last Ice Age has been well and truly over for thousands of years.

Meanwhile, actual sea levels have been rising about 7 times as fast as this recently due to anthropogenic climate change.

It is coming.  You will be taxed for your "carbon footprint" and arrested for "crimes against the environment."

So what?  I can't understand why this bothers the average American.  It'll be a little bit of nothing for most folks.

Are you aware of the so-called "Hockey Stick"??  That's what got the "Global Warming Crisis".  Nothing gets funding better than a nice crisis.

Global Warming.  War on Drugs.  No Child Left Behind.  The New Deal.  War on Poverty.  Midnight Basketball.  LOLZ  History is replete with government-funded projects and programs to deal with manufactured crises.

The Great Depression and the dust bowl were manufactured crises?  Wow!

Who really knows how early those Russkies were into weather manipulation, Nathan?

Avatar of Harvey_Wallbanger

As I recall, the dust bowl of the depression was caused by severe drought and poor farming methods. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dryland_farming

what if the aliens are trolling us with an invisible earth lagging jacket ?

Avatar of zborg

Nope.  The Dust Bowl arose from the "petroleum revolution" which brought tractors and mechanization to the agricultural sector.

Lots of (unemployed) farm animals and laborers resulted.

Simple Story.  Read it here --

The "New Deal" is still hanging on.  With a bit of difficulty.

That would explain quite a lot.

Have you brought this to Lord Stern's attention ?  Laughing

Back in the day when tractors actually had tracks.  Damn' cotton.

That's going to cost you, Wallbanger.  They are getting the cell ready!!

Ha ha ha ha that fake graph???? A denier cult member tried to pull the same stunt at another forum.

Nope, we are not coming out of an ice age!!!! Stop making stuff up!!!!!! Actually we should be getting cooler,so even if temp was constant (it keeps getting warmer) that would be evidence of man's effect on the temperature.

Call your search a "voyage of discovery".

bob, should i be a denier denier too ? is it fun ?

Here we have a graph that shows several hotbutton issues.  First, it shows that glaciers were increasing size until the early 1800's (the end of the "Little Ice Age").  Second, it shows the time period when CO2 was being emitted into the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels.  Third, it shows the relationship between glacial shortening and sea level increase plotted against the fossil fuel burning era.

Note that the slope of the sea level increase curve is unaffected by fossil fuel use.  Hence, it appears that sea level is rising due to natural climate change, rather than anthropogenic causes.

It is probably more correct to say that the latest glaciation reached it maximum about 22,000 years ago, and we are entering an intermitent interglacial.

Today, during the Quaternary Period (roughly the past 2 million years),  the Earth is as cold as it has been in 450 million years.
