And Elon would make less of a profit, and probably gain barely any market share.

Teslas are a brand. It's EVs in general that can contribute to reducing emissions (as they do in some countries).

And he’ll be much less rich if Tesla goes bankrupt.

This is probably the nearest to a worthwhile post yet.

The answer is:

1. We do. A lot of them
2. We would need literally a whole new continent full of trees to deal with most of the present emissions. Unfortunately, there are no empty continents available at present. [Note that even this "solution" would require regularly cutting down the trees, sequestering the carbon and planting new trees.
3. Bottom line - it's a little bit of the solution.
