--- Thanks for the info Linuxblue.
It is now after midnight on the east-coast and the Fourth of July has started in the USA. Let me just wish a " Happy Independence Day " to everyone living on the southside of the Canadian border.
Well July was Canada Day and now on Oct 19th we are having a happy election day. History could be made for us today is several areas ( all 338 seats in our House of Commons are up for grabs ).
Early returns have been coming in from the Atlantic Provinces and all 32 seats there have gone to the Liberal party.
Thanks for the post 17Rileyc. Sorry but I'm afraid that you will have to make do with the candidates that you have down there lol.
Well the wait is over, the standings are: 183 seats for the Liberals, 105 for the Conservatives, 34 for the NDP, 10 for the Bloc Quebecois and 1 seat for the Greens ( Justin Trudeau will be the new PM ). For the first time in our history we will have a national leader who is the son of a previous national leader. The USA has of course had that happen a couple of times before.
In Canada we have the tale of two " Justins ", the good Justin and the bad Justin. The good Justin of course is our new Prime Minister, a former teacher, a nice type of guy. Justin Bieber is our bad Justin, but there we do have some good news. Bieber is quite busy with his music ( music ??? ) and never seems to come up here anymore, a bit of good luck that.
So I gather that our PM was on the " 60 Minutes " TV show the other day. I don't have cable and I didn't see the program so I hope that things went well.
If to see the segment that was on 60 Minutes; it is available here (scroll lower/below the 3:58 s. segment) http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/justin-trudeau-60-minutes-1.3478614- also, one can watch the daily PBS Newshour on youtube, its a news hour i liked to see from the US, It is streaming live right now and will be available afterward - hopefully this link will make visible today's edition (sidebar) *Today's news 7 March https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWxBtxp1-HA
This is a long weekend for us up here in Canada as it is the Victoria Day Weekend. Also a Hello to the other members from Commonwealth countries.
Some inside baseball for those of us north of the border. Yes today we get to mark 148 years of Happy Canada Days ( mind you in the old days we called July 1st Dominion Day ). There are only 35 million of us up here and some of us do live some distance apart and we may have to shout in a loud manner: Happy Canada Day !
