if we (America) accepted covid19 and alowed ourselves to be exposed to the virus and thus get amune, it would take three months but if we hide at home and close the schools we make it worse, at best, only five will get sick a week like that it can take YEARS we can't avoid it completely but we can drag it out and that is what we are doing and it really is not worth it. if you compare covid19 stats to fever or whooping cough stats you can see that it's only dangerous to old or VERY unhealthy people

The problem with speeding up the wave is that the medical system will be swamped. There won't be enough ICU units for all of the critically ill people, and doctors will have to perform triage - deciding who will live and sending the others into a corner to die. This is happening in Italy; Do we want to go down that path?
As long as it takes for an entire community to realize that it must go quarantine itself!

But it isn't rn until 20% of the population gets it
Well, then you have to go and get people to the vaccine, then there are always going to be a few people who just can't atop themselves and they get it because they decide to ignore the quarantine, then it continues to spread... etc. But, this is just something that COULD happen, not something that WILL happen. Also remember that some people can't pay for the vaccine, so they just wait it out.
I think just going about with our normal lives would do us more good than just staying home

Could be like the flu in that it mutates and returns every year. That is a worst case scenario I have not heard discussed. (Probably because it's too scary to contemplate.) Otherwise, as noted above it isn't going to go away any time soon, especially if it continues to successful find new hosts.
