I need a vacation, where should I go? An open-ended question.

Detroit, Michigan - Tense and scenic bus rides. Architecture influenced by 1982 Beirut. Many old-style sidewalk cafes, minus the cafes. And of course, some of the most luxurious, yet  inexpensively priced, 40 oz. malt liquors in the world

Lol, not to mention the empty homes, drugs and gangs.

I do think Lisav could become a travel agent with her vast knowledge of the travel world.

Another approach is to think of where they need the tourists . . . I've heard Egypt is hurting for the loss of tourism, and it's peaceful enough and not crowded at all, now.  Greece can probably use the tourist bucks these days, also, although I imagine all the strikes can't be good for their transportation within the country.

As for my original idea, Roatan, well, Honduras is perpetually one of the poorest nations in the Americas, so spending our hard currency there never hurts.

Of course there are people who think tourism can harmfully skew the local economy and trash the environment, but I think it's done sustainably in many places.  Including Roatan.  As long as five million of you don't all take the advice and go next year.

And probably no matter where you are in the USA, there's a passable cabin-resort-up-in-the-hills not too far away which was good enough for our grandparents, but has now fallen out of favor because we're all so high-falutin we think we need to fly abroad for every vacation . . . Zeke and Myrtle up there could probably use the business too.

Thanks Tisbutascratch, I would love to visit Egypt with it's earliest civilizations and the fact that its climate is hot and dry, is comforting.

I would find it necessary to look into Cairo, the Suez Canel and the nile, advoiding the huge crowds if possible.  Very good ideas.  I will Google to find out more on this beautiful area!

South Africa.

Anywhere in the southern hemisphere would be having a good weather.

Some places in India may be good too.(Many of my freinds tell me that)

Kerala, Himachal Pradesh etc. Please check these online.

Yes I like this idea of South Africa particularly the surrounding beach of Cape Town and India I will need to Google that, Keraias sounds interesting as long as we have the capabilities of getting around the surrounding countryside.

A neighbor suggested that we travel to The Seychells, they had a great time.  Googled it and found the beautiful images very uplifting.  And saw their home movie clip which showed the beautiful beach with the palms moving through the breeze.  It all seemed very calming and accommodating and the fact it's an island is a major plus.

As anyone been there?  It really did seem very nice.

Hi there,

Yes of course. Brazil is perfect to vacation at. There are so many places to see. Rio de Janeiro is most iconic. But thre are plenty of beaches and natural wonders as well. Bahia is a wonderful STate as is Salvador a wonderful city for the history and culture. Minas Gerais is also a popular destination. The Northeast of Brazil is a wonderful destination for the beaches and you can book a package deal to see many locals in a short period of time.

Good luck...

Gerry

If you're looking for a dry climate, it doesn't get much drier than Arizona, especially during June.  (It is July now, so the monsoons are kicking in).  Also in the summer a visit to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is breathtaking - not accessible during winter.

Arizona is okay and the dry climate sound very nice compared to where we are now, however, we were thinking out of the states to some exotic locale.  Possible a beach resort where the locals will indulge our whims and needs.  But that could change, we'll see.  Thanks
