Will brightened up a bit. He knew there was no way Torch could change anything about this, but at least now he didn't have to test since there were no guards. Will left the room as well, and for the first time in what seemed like hundreds of nights, actually got rest.

*Bumps into Will*

"Hello Will. You seem to be upset. What happened?"

That night, torch would lead a raid on the scientist’s office, capturing him and his associates for questioning.

Seeing the blacksmith just made Will more depressed, as Will had been told by the scientist to use him as a replacement guard and he had promised to start the next time they met. It looked like today he would not only have to explain everything again, but go and test the creepy machine again. Aloud he said: "Nothing really. Torch isn't, uh here today so I guess you'll be alone today with me."

The scientist looked very confused. "Aren't you one of the people Will said was going to be guarding? What's going on?"

#3202 "Why? What happened to torch?"

“We are going to destroy the machine, and you will not tell anyone. If you do, we will make sure you and whoever you tell are never heard from again. Got it?”

*Writes home.* "Found a cool device for signalling." (I imagine it like a radio fueled by magic.)

He began heading for the courtroom. Apparently, the scientist knew the blacksmith much better as compared to Will. He even knew his name. Will didn't but he did feel that the blacksmith could be trusted. He (and the scientist) had interviewed him privately before giving too much information, and he seemed to be trustworthy. Then again, Will wasn't sure anyone was really trustworthy when it came to something this dangerous.

Will continued walking. "Let's say Torch had some, uh, personal issues with the technology. He had to go - sort them out."

Meanwhile… Slash (or sight) noticed activity near the border and investigated it. He had found it, the reason for his funding. Will.

The scientist laughed, not menacingly or nervously but just confused. "Why would you ever want to do that? First of all, that's pure refined titanium, both the room and the helmet. You'd need a ton of permissions to get a machine capable of that much destruction down there. Secondly, we aren't testing on humans and never plan to use it on humans except in a extreme world crisis. And finally, Will is the weakest blob of jelly of a person I've ever met. He actually hates testing the machine, despite the fact that it gives you a ton of energy. He's the last person who would pull anything with it. To be honest, I'm surprised he didn't come with you to try to get it destroyed." He laughed again. "Now, would you mind untieing me?"

(Ooh things getting heated up)

"You know Will I've been wanting to ask you this question for a while. Do you trust me?"

“Well, you actually just helped me out. Thanks for the info, and you are no longer needed.” Torch pulls out a handgun, shooting the scientist between the eyes.

Slash has found the building with everyone in it.
It was time to get rid of the people who jeopardized his perfect vision

That was one of the questions Will had been secretly hoping wouldn't be asked. Nonetheless, he decided the truth was the best answer. "Truthfully, I don't have complete 100% trust in anyone here. But, I think I can trust you enough to be responsible for the secret. And the scientist we had you meet up with a few weeks back agrees."

(Sorry, not canon scientist is required for a later plot point but you can leave him tied up that's fine)

The operator picked up the phone. “Ok, I’m sending someone over. He will be there shortly.”
