is flirting cringe?

I got into a heated argument with a few people earlier about this and I am very curious to hear others opinions. Mine:Small flirts like complimenting someone’s personality or giving a gift to me is fine, but if it becomes anything more than that to me it’s cringe. Any thoughts?
