The 5 O'clock news is saying that Trump fired a doctor at the C.D.C who didn't agree with his opinion on hydroxychloroquin.  Its not Dr Faucci.  I'll get more news on it tonight.

Which circles back to what I said months ago. It's going to be very difficult, on a practical level, to do just that. On a practical level, much of this makes no sense. I think about how many small business are just going to go away, forever. How practical is that? I think about how many lives have to be ruined over this. What's "practical" is going to be given a whole new definition. 

I don't see anything in Article 1 section 8 or 10, that would preclude a Governor from limiting access to the State in an emergency.  And no one said anything about travel to another State, it's about limiting travel from another State.

When I was following stories about people trying to get out of NYC on a certain major conservative news site, the comment sections were almost entirely filled with people from places like Georgia saying how they were going to go all "Deliverance" on anyone with a New York plate.

So, maybe some of those people won't be so welcome in some places when where they live become Hot Zones.

And again, the SCOTUS has upheld the right, in more than one case, of a Governor to restrict travel into, and around the interior of their States, in an emergency.

Also IfPatriotGames, the article in my first comment dealt specifically about the issue I bring up here, so I could only surmise, seeing as you quoted my comment in yours, that that's what you were referring to, not the other freedoms you mentioned.

Given the current circumstances  with the virus its pretty well impossible to discuss it without involving politics. Its our politicians who decide actions to take and I dont see how one can discuss with out mention of such.

Yeah, I believe when Off Topic was first set up, it was meant to be "lightly moderated" - it's been getting regular moderation ever since I've done the job though. The Open Discussion club was also initially set up by Staff for those political and religious topics that couldn't be discussed in the public forums, and they don't manage that any more either - they handed it over to member admins awhile ago, and their approach to moderating the content caused some people to then go off and create their own versions of Open Discussion. We've basically stopped directing people there as an option.

Firstly, you 'believe' wrong.

Erik created Off Topics as a place for members to let off steam. He never wanted it moderated or have any bots in here.

It started being "lightly" moderated by me alone, and only when things got out of hand... and even then, the power of a gentle word worked a lot better than locking threads, deleting text, muting, kicking or warning people.... as the many who know me can clarify.

As for Open Discussions - Members in tjese forums actuslly behaved much better when permitted humour, as long as intimacy, politics and religion were kept out, which they were.

Open Discussions was initislly created by Erik and intentionally left unmoderated. It did become a savage, volatile snake pit, so the only things that really surprise and somewhat disappoint me, is that;

The former is ill informed about the history of this site, and such heavy handedness jas been incorporated,

and the latter... that it actually took the members of OD so long before sprouting off into their own forms of it.

It, for me personally, breaks my hesrt seeing just how bad things have become over the last five years, more so as I've been here since its infancy, just a couple of months after it was created... We had less than seventy members then, in total. 

And i still didn't need mod tools in the forums, even while i still modded in here as a co-manager of the whole site.

I still know more about this site than most will ever encounter, and Erik will confirm tjat one 😊
