Is the universe really infinite

My question is simple. Is the universe infinite? For obvious reasons you are not allowed to involve religion or politics.

No, there’s some scientific explanation but I can remember

If scientists could prove that space is flat, that would be the same thing as proving that the universe is infinite.

On the other hand, if space is not flat, then it can curve back on itself at large distances... and the universe could be "endless" (ie: have no boundary) while still containing only a finite amount of volume.

You could use the surface of the Earth as an analogy. The Earth's surface isn't flat. It has no edge or boundary, but it isn't infinite because it curves back on itself at large distances.

Current thinking is that space is probably flat but that we can't prove it.

the question phrased differently is ..... does space need measure to exist ?

clearly not.
