You're playing a 15 min game with a 10 second increment. 15 I 10 time. Every time you make a move you get 10 seconds.
These second numbers represent increments. For every move you get say 10 seconds. But you can still run out of time. For instance if it takes you 20 seconds to move then you lose those 10 seconds and 10 seconds from your clock. You can just make a custom 15 min game without this if it bothers you.

Lawyers exist to study law. Navigating the vast ocean of different laws, jurisdictions, amendments etc. is not a simple matter and requires years of study and experience. If I have to go to court I can represent myself, I am educated and well spoken, but I can't and don't want to memorize 300 pages of law, nor can I differentiate the important from the useless. So I pay a lawyer, because he knows the law. Also lawyers aren't just for court cases, crimes, disputes, lawsuits etc. You need lawyers for making contracts, testaments, claiming ownerships. If you want to make a new law, this has to be reviewed and processed, most likely by a lawyer. It has nothing to do with "getting along", as long as there are laws there will be people who study and practise law. I don't know I just hope this entire post is just a bad joke.
