It’s awful that we need to focus on this pointless debate when we have so many better topics we could talk about and that’s the problem this has on our society it disrupts and divides us. Even for these young people is disrupts them from their life giving them a false identity and false priorities and dividing them from their peers. I don’t know what to do about it but we mustn’t fall to this divide over this of all things.

Also so nobody gets at least the Catholic view on it wrong (some people can give the wrong impression of it), it’s very much a “hate the sin not the sinner” attitude. According to the church it is wrong but that doesn’t mean we should hate those people, if anything help them even more. That doesn’t mean supporting the movement or saying it’s ok also to be clear

The divide you speak of will always exist, and must exist. I do agree that bickering about topics like this is pointless, after a point this is inevitable. The divisions in society contain people, just like OTF seems to contain all the spam threads.

What I'm starting to realize as I get into these debates is that you will never change the minds of overly religious people and bible literalists.

It's sad to see so many people like the OP not only not being accepting of people, but also saying things against them like, "this is for realsies a mental illness." Very Christian of you.

I hope you guys will someday stop with this silly ideology that your parents have taught you and learn to think for yourself and what is right.

It’s an issue because we make it one. If we don’t agree then we do it respectfully and don’t let our emotions get ahead of themselves. Let’s instead gets some things we do mutually agree upon and go on from there. We will be civilized by my word.

Fine I’ll start. In many instances I see new parents referring to their children as they or thems as they don’t want to force genders on their kids. We don’t want this parenting because they believe that they want to give their kids free choice but make the situation much worse. I saw a kid ask their parent am I a boy and they said I don’t know you can be whatever you want. Kids need clarity in their life and this only hurts them. Yes they should make choices by themselves but they first need a direction especially on the most fundamental basic part of being a human. The kid was asking because he probably genuinely didn’t know what makes him a boy and it’s our job to educate our society early on and let the form opinions later.
