btw the powerhouse of a cell is mitochondria which is found in the cytoplasm of cells
lmao whats the point of school

...Basic english is important but story writing isn't useful for most career paths...
Really? I've been an Electronic Engineer my whole career. I've done just about everything related to designing, repairing, programming, and managing computers, servers, and networks. Most people would think a techie doesn't need to know how to write. However, if you ever want to be more than the lowest level worker you're going to need to write reports, justify budgets, document processes and procedures, and a host of other writing tasks. If you write like a middle schooler then management won't be likely to promote you into higher paying jobs.

Notice how the English language education of this poster enabled him to form a beautiful rhyme in his introductory sentence.

Well yeah but like writing reports isn't the main portion of most jobs. You can easily get good at writing good stories in a much faster way than school. If someone wanted to be an electronic engineer, they would probably spend more time learning about electricity than they would about writing informational stuff.

There exists a sort of formality of language within most workplaces and professional environments. Mostly it's about striking the right tone when communicating with colleagues by email etc and certainly any kind of official report would need to be of a high linguistic standard. I would say it's essential for any managerial level position.

You're right. In college I spent more time learning electronics (electricity itself is relatively easy) than writing. We still had creative writing courses and public speaking courses. Like I said, they are invaluable, if not required, for most jobs, not just techie jobs. A great many types of careers require presentations, reports, and proposals. I've changed career paths several times. I started as a design engineer then switched to test engineering. Later I managed a mainframe and was a manager/programmer/analyst for the database that ran on it. From there I moved into server and network management. I never would have been able to do that without a good foundation in math, English, and public presentation.

Ok fine but I don't see why teachers make us write essays on 2 page books. They literally tell us to uncover the secret meaning of the passage as if its some sort of ancient scripture. Oh, and don't even get me started on high school science and english.

The last argument I'll present is that I'm speaking from 40 years experience in the working world and I believe those courses will be valuable later in life. What's your experience?

Being stuck in a classroom almost dozing off (I always do that in math for some reason and don't get me wrong, I like math.) although I still get good grades.

I havent got 40 years experience, I will admit. But I have alot. And I feel strongly that 99.9% of what is done at school is a total and complete waste of time for almost all students. Particularly what the OP mentions, English. Forcing kids to get stressed out over writing "analytical" garbage and find meaning in 400 year old plays is the most pointless nonsense I've ever seen

I apologize for the tone I was starting to adopt. I was becoming frustrated. English was always my worst subject but even that has enriched my life by helping me appreciate novels I've read, understand articles of various types, and, maybe most importantly, dissect the garbage major media has been feeding us.

My experience is close to nothing other than valuable time thinking. I guess english may be important since it is the most widely used language. The thing is, they go too in-depth at high school level. Same thing with science. A lot of people dream to be a singer or a actor and I feel like school doesn't support that. Look at Mark Zuckerberg. He dropped out of harvard to pursue his buisness, because he didn't have the time he needed with college taking all of it. Same goes with high school. There are probably many students which are incredibly smart at something but can't get good grades. They get demotivated. People see them differently. See the thing is, I haven't learned a single thing from math at school. Literally. I sit there just so that I get perfect attendance and grades. All my math work is done from learning on my own with my own motivation. School is too slow for me. Meanwhile, some people go through very hard times because of bad grades, or a rejection from a college. School was too fast for them. I feel like instead of having school based on age, it should be based on skill at least to a certain extent. Sure, there are opportunities for going a grade or two above your level but that is about it. I'm sure there are many students that should be way higher than they are. There are also students that might need a bit more help with some subjects than others. This is why I think school is a waste of time. Maybe english isn't, but other subjects are, at least high school and maybe even middle school. Elementary school and I guess 6th and 7th are important.

I'm sorry for letting some frustration show. It's just that I look back and see how even subjects I hated and thought useless have brought greater understanding and fulfillment. So many things in life are tied together in strange and often hidden ways. You never know when something you thought useless is going to rear up and become key to something you are interested in.

bro school is best thing i feel in quartine stuck in home .in school u get to meet friends enjoy and kind of stuff and if u dont study then how did tomas edson and many sciencist became great without study would have they been able to became such a great inspiring for kids no. so thats why school is important
Whats the point of school? For some people, it is too hard and demotivates them. For some people, its too easy and moves too slow. Personally, it is way too easy. At this point I am just wasting my time there. I am already in the highly capable program but it is still way too easy. I am getting more progress in math on IXL and khan academy in 30 minutes than I am getting in 1 hour and 20 minutes of math at school. I would say all the stuff for english and science is necessary until middle school and maybe a bit into it, but after that it is pointless. Why tf do I need to know what onomatopoeia is? I know what sound effects are and stuff like BOOM! and POW! But why do I need to know that they are called onomatopoeia? Basic english is important but story writing isn't useful for most career paths. In school, they teach too slow for some students and too fast for some. In science, same thing as math. In english, a lot of it is useless. For history, I can't say anything since I think its fun but some people may think its boring. I see why. For music, I don't see the point other than career choices which involve music. I don't want to be a musician but I still have to do music class.
