What do you guys think about non-chess related Blog posts on this website. Say someone would like to blog about film or books or anything else... is chess.com a proper venue for this?

I rarely read blogs here.  I don't think most people do. The most well read blog post here has twenty some thousand reads. The average blog post here gets 20 reads.

With a total membership of 11 million, that's pretty low readership. People get a lot more readership here on the forums.

However, if you write well thought out interesting posts on anything, a few people may read them and a few who become engaged may even comment.  Except for one post about "travel chess sets", your posts here on the forum haven't generated much comment. Why do you think that is?

I am not sure, perhaps it is the subject matter or the way I present it. The other possibility is that I am not a GM and people just dont care about what I have to say...

It's not you. It's very tough to break through and get noticed.

The forums you wrote were well done. The little reviews of the books you have read may be helpful for people looking for good things to study.

If you have something that you think is fascinating, I'd write it whether or not I got a lot of readers.

Why not just write what interest you and see what the outcome is.

If you look through the various groups to join ,there's a movie buffs group for example, where people discuss film.
