Mods should censor posts differently.

Instead of removing a word entirely and replacing it with "[Removed - MS]" for example, how about you add a few letters for context, like "f[Removed - MS]".

I think that would defeat the purpose of censoring if people knew which exact swear word was said, since swearing is against chess.com's tos.

Mods/Staff already censor in a way I believe is good enough; they usually leave a reason why something was removed and sometimes even include link(s).

Moved to off-topic.

CC management has set guidelines for community conduct here and members have agreed to abide by them. Moderators are responsible for enforcing those guidelines. Note: This is not censorship. Members can share comments that violate CC guidelines elsewhere.

As a volunteer moderator, I follow the action policies here... I replace the comments that violate the terms of service with a brief comment. Or I remove the entire post. There is no need to leave clues about the offending content... it was removed for a reason.

Censorship is never a good thing. Free expression of ideas is the best way to go. Nobody's ears ever fell off from hearing a curse word.

while it is a bad thing... there is a point when there's just things that really need to, such as certain propaganda from a specific group that is known for doing horrible things in a certain world war for instance....
