Great band. I love the gritty vibe of videos like this.

Not exactly the best live ZZ Top performance but it's their first time on Johnny Carson so I guess it belongs here. Original Airdate: 05/16/1986.

Ya that was rough (live TV), didn't sound like they had a sound check & false started the song. I wish Johnny Carson was still around to watch...Doc Severinsen with the fake beard (funny). Cool to see it from '86.
Grateful Dead Live 1972, Bob Weir lead singer for Truckin misses the first line of verse 1 "Arrows of neon and flashing marquees out on Main Street" (00:28, I like his honest reaction) but quickly recovers on the next line "Chicago, New York, Detroit it's all on the same street"
They were cool about it, Jerry Garcia looks up when Bob misses the verse, but they kept on jamming and Bob to his credit belted out the rest of the song. Even pros mess up (a good example for young musicians to help lower their anxiety level when performing, focus & keep jamming it's not the end of the world), nice performance.
Truckin - Grateful Dead
The Dead never worried about that kind of stuff. There were times when they played really bad and others where you couldn't stop dancing. Only saw them nine times. Did the 94 Tour in Vegas and Cali with Sting as part of the traveling circus of followers. I sold Becks, Bobby's favorite. There is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.
I saw one of the last Rod Stewart Faces concerts and he missed the first line of Maggie Mae. He was on the other side of the stage and went running over to his mike. "I think I got sumpin to say to you...."
Ron Wood on guitar, Corky Laing on drums, of West, Bruce and Laing.
But I came here to celebrate Old F48ts. From 1977, Paul Barrere's Old Folks Boogie, on the album Time Loves a Hero.
So you know you're over the hill when your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill...whoa.
Boogie we will, cause to us the thought's as good as the thrill.
Won't let me put the vids. First is the album, second is a live version.

Front row balcony in the 4000 seat Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, with Robert Palmer and The Girls opening up for Little Feat. Incredible show. I turned down seeing the Dead in same venue because I'd only heard the first album, which isn't exactly their best.
My buddy told me he had us tickets for all three nights. "I'm not going to that. They suck." They had just gotten back from the Europe 72 tour and then the album came out. It was cheap, 3 records for $7. Most albums were $5 alone. I thought, well, maybe they got better. I went home and put it on and started kicking my self. You didn't go to the concert?! What's wrong with you? They're all playing lead.
Finally saw them in 1975 and the next night was Led Zeppelin. ![]()
Here's an obscure one that I used to play with a band when I was in the Northwest. I think our version was better, but I don't have a recording of it. I think it's based off The Amazing Colossal Man, which they originally announced that Roger Corman, who else, would be directing, but he dropped out. That movie inspired The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.
We called our music Cabaret Rock, theatrical and a lot of Oompa music, sort of Polka with a twist of Rock and Roll. We did face paint and costumes. Most fun band I was ever in. Rumpus was the name. The Underthings call themselves Neo-Cabaret.

I notice another Rumpus on YouBube. That's not us.
Here is the fearless leader of Rumpus, Stefan, painting in Seattle. There have been several incarnations of the band over the years. He is a songwriter, artist, puppeteer, College Professor, Family Man and all around good guy. A real ball of fire. Arlette, his wife, is equally talented, hosts a local radio show on Vashon Island, teaches Pilates and grew up in Austin. She comes down every once in awhile. Love them both. I miss Vashon, but can't take the northern climes anymore. Gotta have the Texas Sun. They only have liquid sunshine in Seattle. I doubt they will mind me talking about them here. I'll get one of our songs up when I can get it together.

I forgot he's also a stand up comedienne. Steffon Moody. Do a search with 'Vashon Island' added. Woops. I misspelled his name in the other post. This is his Dead Elvis act. I'm still working on the music.

Well, I filled up the other ones before I found the one I wanted to post, and I'm here all alone with my 5 post limit. Ve have vays of getting around ze mods. Another Arlette song. This is me on bass, upper left corner. Face Reveal! We all played guitar, except Arlette, and the best guitar player in the band was the drummer! Flamenco trained guitar and jazz drummer.
Now I found the album. I play on all of these except Tiny Girls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8okYd4GMEk&list=OLAK5uy_mSauSpUzRz5oRUgrQOCHFLXeAKkHNqHJI

You guys wanted to know how to be a millionaire. Well, here you go. I found one of Arlette's vids. And now one of Steffon's many different music projects. Got mixed up. I went a little overboard. Sorry. These two are just so talented and fun I have to brag over them.
Saw War at the Howlin Wolf in New Orleans with Lee Oskar on harp. He makes the best commercial harmonicas. Weird you put the ZZ Top up. I watched that last week with a buddy. I'd never seen it before. Never saw them, but we Texans bow down to Billy Gibbons. I used to sidetrack to drive through La Grange on my way to New Orleans. It's not too far from here. They got a lot a nice girls there.
Eureka! I've looked for this song on youtube several times. I have it on "The Big Easy" soundtrack CD. None of the soundtracks at youtube seem to have this recording. Anyways, I'll be hanged if I understand more than five words of the song but it's a great song. I'm glad I found it, now you have to listen.
Low Rider - War
I've heard Low Rider forever and always figured it was a hispanic band, possibly Santana. I didn't know Low Rider is by War or that they are a funk/rock/soul band from Long Beach, CA.
