my first game was....

I was probably about 6 or 7. My neighbor who was 4 years my senior pulled out a beginner's chess set where the pieces had diagrams on the base of how that piece moved. I remember how he bragged to each passer by that he wasn't gonna move any of his "pieces" and just mate me with pawns.
I don't remember much else from that game, except i kept wondering when the game was gonna be over.. i had lost all my pieces. I didn't quite catch the concept of checkmate.
But I did remember how fun it was figuring out how to move my pieces from the diagrams... didn't much matter whether I was hanging them or not... if i could make a legitimate move i was happy. I probably would have put exclamation points behind all my moves!
Yes.. my horsey can go to e5!!!
I'm not sure I was exactly "hooked", but I definitely wanted to play again. My first win over my elder neighbor was also my last game against him. After that he regarded me as nothing more than a pest. I had lost my best friend over the game... but I've had a steady companion ever since.

not my first time but it's the most memorable...it was during the tournament for WEST CAVITE SPORT MEET (WCSU) where i represent my school (GFMHS) during high school. since it's not yet my turn for a game..i kept on watching the first set of games...ofcourse when you're an audience sometimes you can read right away every move of the player, then i murmur for a mistake move of the other player wich turn her to be mate not knowing that the guy on my back was her team mate where i supposed to play for the 2nd set,he think of me as a boastful player...so i did my very best to beat him...luckily i did..and i give him a shake hands with a sarcastic smile (i mean huh)...not knowing that he would fallow me after the game...we talked and exchange info. of each other...we became friends..exchange letters,photos,dreams...etc..untill we became more than that..and the rest is history....
bottomline is...i met that special some one through playing chess that make it memorable...
tell us a story of how your first chess game was...that makes it a memorable one....
