With Halloween coming up, it made me think of the classic horror film Night of the living dead. If you've seen it, I just wanted to share what I thought were stupidest flaws and plot holes in it:
1. The zombies were so ravenously hungry, why did they go so out of their way to get the people still living, when they already killed a few to eat? Like when Johnny died at the beginning of the movie, that first guy had a meal right there and instead he wastes time chasing Barbara for like 2 miles. In fact how were there so many zombies to begin with if all of them would feast on the ones that recently died?
2. The whole Ben vs Cooper dilemma fighting over whether going in the basement or not was dumb in my opinion. Now I personally thought Cooper was right from the start, you go in the basement and you just have to worry about one door. They had a gun so even if they did break in they could have just stood at the bottom of the stairs and picked them off one by one. It's not like being able to escape the house was a better option anyway, since they were all over outside and were breaking in at every entrance point anyway. Or, here's an option the geniuses didn't think of, go to the 2nd floor of the house. The zombies aren't going to be able to get at those windows, and then you only have 1 staircase to protect, and it's better than the basement cause you could still probably escape, climb out the window and onto the roof if you had to. They could have even locked themselves in 1 room on the 2nd floor and protect that door. Better than the basement as you still may have a window or two.
3. Ben should have known better than to put that torch down so close to the freakin vehicle! Their escape plan probably would have worked if it weren't for that mistake.
4. Ben's other mistake, at the end creeping up to the window looking like a zombie when the rescuers came..like you don't act like a zombie, just run out of the house screaming or yell for help to immediately show you aren't one of them. Now obviously the cop should have waited and seen (and maybe they were trying to put it a little message with that scene if you know what I mean), but strictly from a zombie-safety standpoint, make it obvious you are alive and not a zombie from a distance!
4. I question whether even going into an old abandoned house like that is the correct choice when being chased by such creatures. I would have stayed outside and kept running. At least outside you can still run in any direction and it was made apparent that you could outrun them, so it made less sense to barricade yourself inside a wooden house with a bunch of vulnerable windows that they could, and did, eventually break through.
So yeah, to summarize Cooper was right and they should have sheltered in the basement, or camped out on the 2nd floor. (Not saying it was rational to act how he did in the movie but he had the smarter idea.). They were surrounded anyway so who cares how many doors and windows you can escape from? The 2nd floor would have given the advantage of higher ground, and they could have kept launching those cocktails at them without worrying about being attacked through the windows, with the ability to escape on the roof if they really needed to (the condition of the zombies they obviously couldn't climb). What do you think? I think World War Z was a much better movie, and at least that it was like a rabbid virus, not the silly explanation of radiation reacuvating their brains (which would be irrelevant if the rest of their body stopped functioning). What are your opinions and what would you have done in the movie?
