Now Hiring Music Critics

I hate to ask this on chess.com but I know there's no better place to ask. For those who don't know I'm now going into Digital Music Production. Here's the music that I make.

Click Me!

I have a YouTube channel and my next song to go on it but I haven't uploaded it yet. Of course, because this is my creation so it sounds good in my ears but I don't know about your ears, if that makes sense. I don't want to upload it then find out, "OOPS... I've made an embarrassing mistake but OOPS... it's uploaded to YouTube so it's too late, ha, ha, ha..." So I would like to hire music critics to review my music before it's uploaded to the public. I'm not looking for the normal, "Oh yeah, it's good" kinda thing but rather,

"I thought your intro was a little dragged there and your drop also. Your chorus had some ugly high-end noise that needs looking into and your ending could use some more improvement, but on the overall it was good. Your lead was innovating and you could feel that bass."

See? Something like that. What do you get out of this? Well I've thought about that, unfortunately I do not have any money to offer you (I'm 14), but rather a trophy and the chance to hear never-heard-before techno, trance and house music. If you're worried that I'm a terrible newb please listen to the "Click Me!" link at top. I don't feel easy about asking you for your e-mail (I never check it anyway Laughing) so I won't, rather I'll PM you on chess.com with the .wav file. Well, what do you think?? Are you up for the job? Just comment below saying that you're up for the task and list your max songs per week and you're all set! Also if you have a comment or question you can ask that too! Thank you so much for reading. Cool

I like all kinds of music. I think you did a real good job. Sounded real good to me. One thing I could tell you and I know it was a sample after about forty seconds the music you made should flow into some more flowing sounds in a music progression of the song you our making. Kind of like the music carring you to other places in sounds. And I am sure you know this all ready.  Other then that sounded real goodSmile

Thank you so much brigatine-66! That's exactly what I'm looking for! Smile

Does this mean that you are interested in reviewing any future songs?

Any time my friend. I have liten to your song a few times now. All ways stay with your foundation and adding a different level of progression letting people move to new places in the sounds you our making. Exploding into new areas of sound. Do you like Rush? listen to La Villa Strangiato. awesome song. You will see what I mean you made a real good song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc6CMWpxS24

I'm no music critic, but I liked it. It sounded like an introduction to a song hopefully about wombats, since there are just not enough dance songs featuring wombats:)

Your song did flow in a progression. Let me know when you finnish the song I am sure it will be awesome.

I'm no music critic either. But I really liked it. I'm really into your style

It's not really my type of music, but I did give it a listen and think you did a good job. I liked the build-up in the intro, but it did seem to lag in the middle. The same type of sound, like it plateaued and stayed that way for too long, if that makes any sense. Like I said, not my type of music, but regardless, I thought it was good.

Hi Caleb,

I hope all's well and good for you and your family.

Having listened I am of the same as NomadicKnight says here. Some years ago I used to enjoy composing music. I used to listen a lot to Depeche Mode which influenced what I did, which was instrumental analog synth stuff. Their music has layers where you can hear little melodies throughout a song and I replicated that in what I did.

Even if the main melody is quite repetative then introducing other little melodies underneath throughout the composition breaks it up and can stop people who listen to it from switching off. Also changing the sounds used in each composition to bring distinctiveness to each track is good. I think it is good to listen to music that you may not even usually listen to so as to get different ideas and inspirations which may help. Though being of The faith be careful of what lyrical content you will allow yourself to listen to :-)

I hope all goes well for you in it all. Psalm 33:3-5 :-)

GOD Bless you.

Well, it's good. I agree that it needs to have a little change in it. It almost reminds me of some of Avicii's songs. I look foward to hearing the whole thing.

I don't know much about your type of music, I mainly concern myself with hymns and hers. I did click the link. I didn't care much for the music but on the same page apparently provided by YouTube was a neat list of videos about gray space aliens so my time wasn't entirely wasted.

It sounds like computer music should sound. Mechanical and static with a constant artificial drumbeat living its own life. Kudos for matching your RAM memory with the processor's capacity, so the "music" loops don't hang by latency and lack of virtual memory.

Good engineering, would be my headline in a review of those noises.

Hey C.J. how are you doing? Yesterday as I was going through my day. Your song was going through my mind and soul. That is a vary good sign of good music making. When it connects with a persons mind and soul. So I started thinking of other bands that I grew up with that can lead you with some ideas and help you with making great music. Which I know you can do I hope you check them out.  The frist band is Pink Floyd and the song Echoes from their album Meddle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhbQGyUK7aI  The secound band and album is Emerson Lake and Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7NAGTq_IJQ   And a awesome redone album of Emerson Lake and Palmer Pictures at an Exhibition. By Tomita Pictures at an Exhibition. This guy redone this album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVvQQMrEUzQ  Here is a link to His Wikipedia giving you some History of His Life and How He made music. I know you will enjoy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isao_Tomita    And one other band that is real awesome to is Hawkwind from there album Space Ritual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYAd0-ifNlM  . In my opinion these five bands Rush included these guys our all musical geniuses in their own write. I hope you enjoy.

Thank you so much for all of your advice!! Smile I'm really glad I made this forum. I've just finished my next song and I've got to say that I haven't only been reluctant to put it on YouTube but also here. My 1 minute sample definitely has something that I don't sense in this song, but after 9 hours I don't know what else to do. Maybe it has something to do with what brigatine-66 mentioned about being able to hear it in your "mind and soul". Nonetheless I made this forum to get better so here you go... Wink

file:///F:/Felicity.mp3

I'm definitely going to exercise what I have learnt here in my next song about flow, progression and variety

Yea I am sure all of us have songs that we all like where  we work all day or at school and can not wait to go home or in our car and turn the music on. Music that makes us all free and gives us a escape in to a place to where we all feel better. I hope you where able to take some time to check out some of the links I put up. Isao Tomita is regarded as one of the pioneers of electronic music.
