Hi everyone my name is Lily and here are OTF do’s and donts for anyone who is new or doesn’t post on OTF a lot. Ps guys pls don’t fight in the comments istg this happens way too often

1. Do create forums with interesting content, and keep up with all the gossip in the OTF community.

2. Don’t publicly call someone out if ur mad at them. Some of the worst chess.com dramas happen because someone is mad and calls someone else out on OTF, believe me there’s a good chance ur account will end up closed, either by chess.com or by  you  because you can’t take the drama anymore and the angry DM’s.

3. Do have a good sense of humor. Ur gonna need it.

4. Don’t post topics which you yourself know are going to get a lot of hate and arguments.

5. Do be kind to everyone and don’t get mad if people disagree with ur opinions. (Obviously if their opinion is inappropriate or disrespectful then js report or block them, eg if they hate Oreos or they chew ice. JOKE.)

6. Don’t post negative comments on other people’s threads. Giving your opinion is ok but do it respectfully.

7. Do make sure you post regularly.

8, don’t do AMA’s over and over because it gets annoying after 1 person has like 5 of them.

9. Do see which of your forums get the most views and u can post more on that topic.

10. Don’t worry if ur posts don’t get a lot of attention at first. It’ll grow, hang in there buddy

Thx for reading my fellow nerdz

Cool thread but I kinda disagree with #9. When I used to make threads frequently I started making threads on topics of nature which have got attention before but making threads like this leads to us not making threads we actually enjoy. Sure, you can make threads which others view more but make sure that it lies in your field on interest too and you are not just making them for the views (:
