In fact Duchamp thought the Art should appeal to intellect which is similar to Tolstoy's rules

Art is subjective. For somepne something can be seen as art, for someone it can't. Deal with it. If you make art, you should know not everyone is gonna like it.

There is a difference between liking it and considering it art. For example a folk song about love would be considered art by Leo Tolstoy, Oscar Wilde. However in our modern world it would probably be considered "cheesy". Just because people don't like the song doesn't make it "not-art".

As stated previously, several people ( Charles Baudelaire was one) called photography too mechanical, and asserted that it couldn’t be called art because of that. Despite his status, who here agrees with his statement today, after all these years? The same argument are being made against AI art. The misguided notion of generative AI taking a bunch of pictures and mashing them together to give you the output probably contributes toward this view.

Like Fobby has said, art is subjective, and in my view its status as art rests entirely on the observer. Some find abstract art to be a wonderful way to express their feelings, and others view it as random strokes on a canvas.

This is an interesting idea, however, I’m not aware of him saying anything like this.

Art’s value may be connected to intellectual engagement. His readymades forced others to engage intellectually and question the nature of art. Art is a cerebral experience… not purely visual or emotional. This is not to say that art is “intellectual”. Dadaism is absurdity…. just like skibidi toilet… who is willing to say brain rot is intellectual?

As for AI, I consider it a tool for creating content. I don’t think classifying something as art is dependent on the tools that are used. Did Tolstoy say that the tool used determined if something was art?

#396 Duchamp’s fountain was specifically made to challenge what was traditional art at the time. It was made to make people think about what is and isn’t art. This is what sparked Dada. Dadaism isn’t anti-intellectual but instead conveying thought-provoking work through nonsense, just like the Fountain.

I’m not sure whether I see Skibidi Toilet being Dada, but I didn’t fully read your forum post about it.

Tolstoy thought you should have an emotion while creating a piece and you should convey that through the art. You might be able to make the argument that you still have emotion while creating AI art because you are still forming something, despite taking little personal effort. However, I think that’s a bit dubious.

A bag contains x counters.
7 of the counters are blue.
Sam takes at random a counter from the bag and does not replace it.
Jill then takes a counter from the bag.
The probability they both take a blue counter is 0.2

Find the number of counters in the bag.

simple but nice problem and mixes multiple maths topics

2/X =

1/x =

= 10%

10 counters total.

this ones obvious i swr

So, we multiply 2 number to make 0.2. That’s an infinite number.

Never mind

7/y x 6/y = 0.2

42/y^2 = 0.2
