fact pawn means soldier

The word originates from a foot soldier but its actual meaning is "a person used by others for their own purposes" ( Oxford dictionary )

shivank2005

in india it is called a soldier too.

We fight a total war, all citizens take arms! Women just happen the ones that make it to the end every single game.... Or could be that Queen is like the title General, not a female ruler.

kings should be stronger than queen right?

Pawns are not soldiers, and chess is a battle of politics and diplomacy, you capture, you don't kill which is why a queen has more power than a knight. ( she has more influence with the king than anyone else  hence more power.)  A pawn could be anyone considered expendable, an ambassador, a minister etc( of any sex ) having said that not all queens are female lol

Your answer is very nice and makes sense.

But STILL there is a question:

Why the most powerful piece in chess is a QUEEN (female)? They could choose another one, like the Knight, because Knights are warriors, with weapons... WHY DID THEY CHOOSE A WOMAN DESPITE THE KNIGHTS????

Conclusion: the questions still remains and FIDE should pronounce.

Then I repeat my questions and I am going to email FIDE about it:

This confirms my issues:

1 - The pawn promotion rule suggests every man want to be a girl?

2 - This rule suggests the man is inferior than woman?

3 - This rule suggests every soldier is gay or want to be a woman?

I think every chess player should ask FIDE to pronounce about this important question.

I am going to email FIDE about this issues, this is very important and I think all of you should do the same:

A pawn does not become a queen it is exchanged, ie the pawn is captured and the queen is released in its place.

Boyangzhao

then why can you get up to 9 queens?

Lots of kings throughout history have had many queens at once, not everyone is monogamous.

HahXianMing

wow.

Then why are 8 already captured in the beginning?

Also, since you can get up to 10 rooks/knights/Bishops, won't there also be 8 of each captured per side in the beginning? How can the kingdoms manage such big prisoner camps?

Because they're Nazis.

Fair comment but it's just a game and can't true to life in every aspect, it just mirrors physical and political conflict and power struggles.

No, the rule is about PROMOTION of pawns. It is not exchanging.

Then, my questions remains unanswered.

I am going to email FIDE about it.

You are correct. The rule is about PROMOTION of pawns. It is not exchanging, because in chess I do not see any rule that says you start the game with lots of prisioners waiting to pawn promote to exchange it.

Then, my questions remains unanswered.

I am going to email FIDE about it.
