im trying to make a chess AI and i have the basics down (how much pieces are worth and moving and stuff like that), but does anybody have any ideas for how to give the computer an idea of position?  all ive done so far with that is told it to do so far is to move pieces that haven't been moved before in the "opening" which i defined as the first few moves.  any ideas for more positional things and for ways to define opening, middle, and end games would be great
