Anyway enough squabbling. Come on let it go. Just let it be. Why don't you be you? And I'll be me. Everything that's wrong. Leave it to the breeze.

So what's on my mind this morning? Well I like a view a friend gave me. I worry about posting on other people's threads. I fear I'm dislikable and boring.

Anyway he said don't post if the op doesn't want you to and that feels workable.

All are welcome here

I seem to always have two ideas that don't match. Maybe because I have a logical idea and an experiential view and I'm always hoping to blend the two.
tomtrytostay
These are my current two ideas.

A that everything but everything is natural. That all there is is natural forces and materials. All a part of nature. It's all one. This idea of a being is an imaginary concept. It doesn't exist. Supreme or otherwise.

I'll give you an example. Prairie voles. Three types. One that have the chemicals and the chemical receptors to love. Caring creatures.

Then there's the one's with the receptors but no chemicals. If they don't have the chemicals they rape and abandon without exception, if scientist inject the chemicals they become caring.

Then the third type without either the chemicals or receptors. There's no hope for them. They aren't pleasant!

That's the first idea.

Idea B.

I see in my own life that if beauty is present I think this consciousness and physical body is something worthwhile because the beauty makes life worthwhile for me.
tomtrytostay
Idea a is my logical view and idea b my experiential view. I've not managed to join the two into a cohesive whole as yet.
tomtrytostay
What I'm going to do is not worry and map the thoughts and ideas I have here. Map what I am
tomtrytostay
I have an idea about beauty. I think that what it is is a pattern. Without the self existing all there really is is causality. There's no true good and evil.

For me beauty is a pattern that creates the experience of love.

Imagine seeing a dozen red roses and experiencing love. The roses are beautiful.

Now imagine seeing the same roses without experiencing love. As those prairie voles would.

All that's left is a colour and a shape. A pattern and nothing more. The same with the touch and the scent.

So beauty is a combination of a pattern and this love that we experience.

Patterns and chemicals.

tomtrytostay
So life is essentially meaningless. I guess my experience of beauty making my life worthwhile is just a part of that pattern too. It's all essentially meaningless. Life just is. Sometimes it's pleasant and sometimes it isn't. But it just is.

I think there's a few reason that we human beings would struggle to accept this.

1 the survival instinct. To admit the self is an illusion is to die in a way.
2 we want the world to be fair. A life without meaning is so unfair.
3 we've been absolutely conditioned to accept the I along with free will exists.
4 many of us have been conditioned to believe the supreme being exists.
5 our pride, we want the credit for our success.

The chemicals altering the brain is true of humans too. Brain chemistry can be altered by a traumatic experience and change who you are. Which means that who we are is not set in stone, can be altered in a good way or a bad way. So how much of who we are is unalterable? How do people behave in very different ways and yet they are the same person?

Consider this, a 'placemarker'.. If, at some point.. I feel like putting in, another of my '2 cents worth' ... Otherwise, it's an incredibly 'hard' thread to find.. based on this site's algorithm, for that!

Ps. 'Btw' there are those, who'd prefer, I 'boycott' {forevermore}, here.. But, since 'God' is longsuffering, with my Own 'quirks' - Why shouldn't I, also.. re. Most others!? ..{not sure, about 'Chas. Manson' .. Or regretably.. Our presumed, next presidential {'fem fatale'}, 'favorite'..{speaking, hypothetically}.
