Not sure what exactly happened with the insults you are writing about, but had likely a similar thing. Someone was trying to kickass with lowest level words and the mod copied the text plus warning. Most mods would replace the dumb words instead of repeating such immature words again. Simply a farce!

Thank you!
I recently had cause to report a moderator because of a heavy handed and officious approach to moderating the forums. He locked down and entire thread because of one or two posts that were deemed to be insulting. Furthermore he issued warnings that the thread would be locked down if it ventured near politics or religion when infact after about 500 posts it had not and no politics or religion had been discussed until that point. This appeared to me to be policing the forums actively seeking a pretext to lock threads down and spoil the enjoyment of those who had contributed to the thread. To add insult to injury he then did lock the thread down on the pretext that it contained insults (two or three posts from five hundred contained mildly insulting texts, you're stupid etc etc) and delivered a moral denunciation to those who had contributed to the thread in the most condescending and patronising manner possible. If this was not enough I texted him and stating that I would be reporting him because his attitude and manner of dealing with the public is that of a tin hat forum dictator. He smugly texted back with an insipid platitude ' Thank you for being a chess, com member. Have a great day', demonstrating that he had no interest whatsoever in resolving any issues that I had.
Naturally I can always take the advice that one meets on the forums when someone posts a disgruntled text, cya. This seems to be the chess dot com way, you are unhappy, then cya! you don't like the moderation, then cya. Perhaps its simply better not to contribute anything, to veer away from mature debate and interesting subjects and instead discuss 'What's the best reply to 1.d4' or 'What's better the Caro Kann or the French', or some other piece of absolute nonsensical slobbery drool. Either way I have once again had an experience spoiled because of heavy handed policing of the forums and I seriously doubt I am the only one.
