No, they see that they are trapped and they see that the opponent has beat them so they resign right away.

What's with players resigning at the end of a game before hte last move? it is that they don't like the idea of being checkmated?
seems like poor etiquette to me, if you resign it ought to be before the last few moves, quitting one move before being mated is weak.
