But when ur an adult u have to do taxes and pay taxes and learn abt taxes- Darwin watterson

Which is why schools should have a mandatory course in that instead of having tests about ancient Greece and Rome.

Hate to break it to you, but it only gets harder. especially if you’re aiming for something real, like becoming a top-tier engineer, not flipping burgers at McDonald’s

If you had one of those jobs you u would be working rn it’s like 8am to three am every day idk how they do it

UPS has 11-7 shifts. Also afternoon shift jobs. High schools start even earlier than the average full time job. And again the key difference is you are getting PAID for your effort. And college you choose the hours of all your classes with the exception final exams, those are standardized by the department. I'm a doordash driver and I don't even have set hours. Can work when I want for as long as I want, no penalties for editing or canceling shifts as needed. So I can just do noon to 9 pm if I want. Kids/teens are more vulnerable to sleep deprivation though due to needing more and having an offset rhythm due to continuing brain development. At least let then sleep in the and save their energy for any less than preferable hours careers potentially later on. Simulating hard working hour with ridiculous start times doesn't get you "used to it", it just compounds future problems, can't believe things like this actually have to be spelled out for people. A high school "Health Ed" class at 8 am is peak comedy.

Taxes are a scam. Once you graduate hs you realize that everything in this country is a big scam. The tax companies lobby the government to make taxes as complicated as possible so that you have to pay to get them done. Yeah, but I’m pretty sure other countries have similar systems, if not worse. No need to hate on your own country. Funny how school teaches everything except patriotism.

But they also have universal Healthcare, minors often don't need "permission" from their parents to have their mental health concerns addressed, and actually ratified the articles of the UNCRC. Their taxes go towards all that instead of into the pockets of people who already have 10^11+ dollars (oh look scientific notation came in handy!), BTW where did I once state that this is a US-specific problem? Lack of children's Healthcare rights, definitely, but with school issues it varies from state to state and then from country to country. Guess the cost of college in most European countries...

Not 100% sure, but I think the reason your work experience feels so smooth is because you dont have to pay for a place to live. Judging by your recent posts, it sounds like you’re still living with your parents and not working full-time. so, that would make adult life feel easier

Of course lol, in this economy, good luck affording rent! Nothing wrong with saving money. People moving out at 17-18 financially strapping themselves for the sole purpose of virtue signaling isn't always the best life strategy. Record number of people who work full time but choose to live out cars and vans to bank money. High paying jobs are scarce these days. You can't even find single room rentals for under $1000 anymore.

Since most European countries have higher taxes than the US, the cost of their so-called ‘free’ education is actually covered through those taxes

Not that much higher lol, I payed $2500 on $13K income last year (wasn't working the entire year straight), and when you add in SS/medicare/Union dues/401k contributions/payment into Healthcare plans at regular jobs, you're lucky to take home half your paycheck. At least in Canada/Europe those taxes make your hospital visits FREE instead of putting people in 6 figure debt, instead of still paying absurd taxes as a middle class person, and then not even getting your money's worth...irony...public schools are one of the tax funded things, so we pay extra taxes to make kids lives more miserable! You cant say anything about other countries taxes being worse until we start taxing the top 10% a good 70-80% with no exemptions, and give the biggest breaks to the middleclass.

I know a few places in upstate NY where apartments go for under $1,000. Yeah, it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, but that has its advantages
Going back to the main point, I get where you’re coming from and I’m not judging, but you argued that kids’ protected lives are harder than adults’. From what I see, that doesn’t really add up

Fair enough, but it's more the lack of the other autonomy and basic adult rights in addition to the stress of school that make it harder. An adult has the chance to find a job they like, the freedom to make their own money and do things without having to also constantly deal with potentially overbearing/controlling parents, or having adults sign off on even basic medical/mental Healthcare for them. No matter how stressful your day job is, you are free to drive home and then throw the world's biggest tantrum in private, or go out into town to relieve your stress, or even just drive for fun like I do, but the main thing is that "protected" aspect isn't really true in the US. Maybe I'm slightly biased because my school was harder than average, (but I chose it willingly due to STEM interest, other parents pick schools for their kids without input from them).

In my neighborhood, my next door neighbors are [moderator removed content. Please do not repost this], so we just don’t bother with them, and talk to my other neighbors and whatnot

The school life is often the worst life
I’d much rather be playing golf all day, having my earbuds in listening to company meetings so I can claim I was working that day

My neighbor spent a solid 3 minutes trying (and failing multiple times) to throw a piece of paper into my yard cuz she didn’t think the paper was her junk
