Most of the top boys played in the Jazz Messengers at some time. We had the Jazz Couriers with some equally good players, Tubby Hayes and Ronnie Scott on saxes, before he opened his jazz club.

That's closed now Jane, I think. His London club is still going strong.
I used to go to the Barton Arms pub or the Cannonball in Brum. Good jazz back then, first saw Andy (Sheppard) at the Barton he was 20yrs old.
