Does a tree scream when you put a chainsaw to it
should robots have rights?
Humans and other living beings deserve rights, robots don’t. When robots gain consciousness and on par humans they will earn their rights.
computer science professor Joanna Bryson argue that “robots should be slaves.” She says that giving robots rights is dangerous because it puts humans and robots on equal footing, rather than maintaining that robots exist “to extend our own abilities and to address our own goals.”

maybe, it doesnt have vocal cords so it might be in a pain we cant understand.

MRHOLLEN, that is partially my point. At some level we don't quite understand yet, I'm sure they do feel the pain.
If a robot made in our image does feel the pain, is it somehow superior to a tree on looks alone..
How far do we all take morality??
Robots, as long as they don’t feel feelings, shouldn’t have rights- when they think by themselves and feel
they are a new form of intelligent life
are thankful to our earth for our very existence? do we care for other people or our parents for giving us existence? no, we destroy and create in our own image, we do what we wish, with no respect for creators or elders.

you said "

you contradict yourself there, you said the tree feels pain , then say that they look on alone as if they do not. we take mortality to the limits of our own beliefs and ideals. some see mortality as preparation for eternity, others see it as the only life we live.
According to Solo, they should have rights.
the robots in star wars were sentient
if a robot could decide who should be in power based on the persons decisions and plans, then the robot would be put in power.
any robot smart enough to bring the downfall of humanity would be smart enough to recognize the need for intelligent biological life.
Is unplugging your toaster considered murder? If machines gain sentience should they be allowed to have basic rights? The argument goes on to say rights are only necessary if rights are wanted, would a robot care if its disassembled if it cant feel pain or fear death? Would it care if its insulted if it doesn't have self esteem? What would happen if sentient robots demanded rights? I want to hear your thoughts on this.
