--- Thanks for the link Steve212000.
Well this is the day for Doctor Who fans. If I still had Cable I'm sure that there would be a special episode to watch.
Yes it was called The Day Of The Doctor.
--- Thanks for the info Steve212000.
The other day I bought a cute little item entitled " The Best Of Star Trek, The Original Series " Volume 2. It is a DVD with four very good episodes on it:
1) Where No Man Has Gone Before
2) Space Seed
3) A Piece Of The Action
4) Journey To Babel
The " Where No Man Has Gone Before " episode is quite interesting as it is one of the first to be produced. Doctor McCoy has not yet joined the cast ( and believe me he was needed to improve the show ). Also the uniforms have not been finalized in appearance, plus Mr. Spock was not yet as serene as he became later.
It was also the first chess episode.
Thanks for the photo Steve212000, yes it is just perfect for this site lol.
Another good episode on the DVD disc that I mentioned is " A Piece Of The Action ". Star Trek seems to be saluting " The Untouchables " TV series with this fun episode ( and the Feds are not impressed lol ).
Wasn't that the episode that introduced the great card game "Fizzbin"?
--- Thanks for the posts and the clip. Another episode where they are playing games of sorts is in " The Squire Of Gothos ". In that episode things seem to be set up as a very serious game of life & death, at least until we find out who the " Squire " really is.
Thanks for the photos Steve212000. Yes it is indeed the " Squire " from that delightful episode. I gather that the super-beings introduced in this episode were the inspiration for " Q " and the Continuum that we saw later in ST-THG.
If they actually did a Star Wars/Star Trek crossover, there would be riots in the streets!
--- Thanks for the post CaptainPike.
You make a very good point as each sci-fi franchise is in it's own seperate Universe. I'm reminded of the old " Lost In Space " TV series which was also in a world of it's own.
Thanks for the photo Steve212000. That is the modern version of " Lost In Space ", I remember watching it back in the days of black & white TV.
Yeah, me too. lol
--- Thanks for the post Steve212000.
Recently I had the chance to watch another episode from the Best Of Star Trek DVD. I had forgotten how good the " Journey To Babel " episode was. Also this is where Mark Lenard is introduced as Spock's father ( Lenard also played a Romulan and a Klingon at different times ).
Thanks for the photo Steve212000.
I can also see Spock's Mother standing next to Doctor McCoy ( not all of her shows up tho ).yh
Yes there were many cute young ladies in Star Trek. One lady of mystery that I remember is the female Romulan Captain in " The Enterprise Incident ", one of TOS episodes that I liked very much.
I just happened to be playing around on Youtube and came upon the name Frank Gorshen ( yes the Riddler from the old Batman TV series ). Gorshen did a very good guest appearance on Star Trek TOS in the " Let That Be Your Last Battlefield " episode ( truly a very very interesting episode to be sure, one of the best ).
Thanks for the photo Steve21200. Yes it was a great episode and pointed toward some human frailties. The actor to Gorshin's left ( sorry I've forgotten his name ) had a long career in films and on TV doing supporting roles.
I recently found my copy of " Star Trek - Collector's Edition " again ( from Star magazine ). There is a lot of good info in this magazine and I'll post some of it here, mind you I may have put some if it into this thead before. The subject of the danger of being a security officer in TOS had been mentioned previously and the death rate for them was 73 %, not very good odds.
