Thanks to the air in my city being deemed hazardous, I went to the Y to walk on the treadmill instead of my usual morning jaunt in the neighborhood. There were more than 200 children there because a YMCA Camp was evacuated as a wildfire raged a few miles east of it. That fire is north of my city. The other wildfire that broke out yesterday west of my city is the likely cause of the ash covering my vehicle this morning.

While walking on the treadmill, I listened to a couple of YouTube videos. The first offered explanations for the possible occurrence of the impossible, and might help the plumbers attempting to solve the problems @IfPatriotGames is dealing with.

I heard that the number of wildfires in WA is actually down from what's normal in recent years. I started to watch both those videos but both are absolutely worthless. Neither will solve the excess air in a pressure tank problem.

Having spent an hour early afternoon sorting through that £10 lot of marbles I bought on Wed, and having extracted some scratched and broken ones and over 100 for me to keep, I then sorted out a possible auction lot that might get me £50, leaving several hundred fairly standard, cheap ones. Then I thought that it was ages since I looked at an old box of photos I got in a swap 20 years ago. They're of woman boxers, the photos are originals and date from the 20s up to about 1970. A lot of them are signed. The internet is nothing like it was and is almost useless these days. I was wondering if you knew anything about a woman boxer from Portland, name of Beatrice Andrews? She's one of the few in proper kit, in a boxing pose with PORTLAND ORE emblazoned on her front.

Incidentally, one from the 20s is just a fantastic photo and apart from the boxers themselves, they seem to be the spectacle in some kind of reception, full of flappers with 20s hair-does and clothes. Definitely authentic and original but I don't know where. I won't post it because I'm considering claiming copyright on these.

Sorry I don't have any idea who that is. I don't follow boxing. I do know someone who may possibly have an idea. He's a wealth of useless information.

Air quality in my city has been hazardous in August nine of the past ten years, but only two of the previous forty. Using a norm established five years ago is a poor base for comparison.

I was recommending the first video to your plumbers. Maybe they can understand it.

The second was for you. It will fill an obvious gap in your understanding of current events.

Yeah I wouldn't use a norm established five years ago if I were you. I was talking about the number of wildfires in WA, not air quality in or around Spokane. Speaking of current events, which stage did Mumbles get lost today on?

Lots of information about woman boxers used to be available on the web but like so many other things that used to be available, it's no longer possible to find it easily. I suppose I could have saved some files 10 years abo but basically wasn't expecting the web to be ruined quite so soon. Some philanthropist needs to set up an alternative web with apps that block commercial interests. Thanks anyway.

I don't follow boxing either and really haven't been interested in it since Cassius Clay. But given the improvement of women's football over the past five years, I can imagine that my photographs are now potentially worth quite a lot of cash.

Yeah, I know. I was making the point that everybody, except the Native Americans, of course, viewed the west as a land of opportunity up for grabs. They just had to shoo off some pesky heathens trying to defend their homeland.

Her plumbers said the impossible was happening. A bit of imagination and this video will help.

I’m reminded of a college roommate struggling with a problem in engineering using advanced calculus way beyond my understanding. He was working on his MS in Civil Engineering; I was a sophomore studying history. I told him to try the back door. Turned out that’s what he needed to do.

Beatrice Andrews was a pro boxer in 1931. She had two fights. She was KO'd in one and retired. Apparently a minor player in the boxing world. Rather insignificant. There's nothing more to tell.

The Allies (aka Sioux), as you know, expanded against other tribes after acquiring the horse about 1776.

Oh, I see what you mean. In several years on the shop floor in engineering I only ever used a formula that came up in mechanical engineering, maybe fluid mechanics, once. It saved me 15 or 20 minutes.

There is probably a helpful video out there somewhere. Obviously what's happening isn't impossible, because it's happening. His point is that nobody he knows has seen it before and they can't figure it out. There are all sorts of videos on why a pressure tank gets too much water, usually waterlogging from air eventually diminishing. But we have the opposite problem, too much air coming in.

So a video on air flow or water flow or water hydraulics causing air increases or something like that could help. Fester posted something about a pressure switch, which didn't turn out to be the problem but was definitely relevant. I don't think a plumber is going to find any benefit in a video about time travel.

Avatar of Festerthetester

He might. He could travel to a time in the future after someone replaces the pressure switch and fixes the problem. Then he could travel back and tell your plumber how to fix it.

But why would he replace the pressure switch when it works perfectly? The pump turns on when it's supposed to, and shuts off when it's supposed to. They already identified where the air is coming in. They shut off the exit valve when air was coming in and it stopped immediately. The pressure switch wasn't even doing anything at that moment, the pump wasn't on. They opened the valve back up and air started rushing in again. So at least they know it's coming in the exit, they just aren't sure how.

Avatar of Festerthetester

Speaking of impossible, if the pressure tank is pressurized how would air be physically able to enter? Most tanks are designed for 50psi. Normal ambient air pressure is 15psi at sea level and lower at higher elevations. I assume by exit valve you mean the valve feeding water to your house. If there were air in those pipes at more than 50psi it would blow water all over you when you open a faucet.
