North Korea has a storied chess history with arguably the greatest player of all time. It is rumored that young Kim, when merely in 2nd grade, played Bobby Fischer in a match. Fischer thought it was only fair to give Kim knight odds as Kim was new to the game. Just ten minutes in and it was Kim, not Bobby, who was up 12-0. The story goes that at that point they switched up the odds, with Kim now giving Fischer the knight odds. Stunningly, Kim proceeded to win every single game by checkmate in four moves or less. The match only went downhill for Fischer from there. In their final game, Bobby Fischer started with all Queens on his back rank, while Kim had a single pawn set on the h8 square. 8 moves into the game Kim underpromoted to a knight, outwitting the American and delivering a beautiful smothered mate. It’s what drove Bobby mad. That is what they say in North Korean textbooks anyway.

Then after beating chess Kim moved on and discovered the secret of immortality and currently he is known as Kim Jong Un.

Unfortunately, now the only pawns he uses are the N. Korean people.
