Texas Hold'em

I'm leaving to play free online poker everyday. I like Texas Hold'em, and it doesn't hurt that I've won millions of imaginary dollars, without having ever paid for any chips. I'd like to share some basic poker tips as a parting gift.

  1. Always pay your blinds.
  2. It's all a bluff, a trap - the loss, the win, the folds, the blunders - it's a spider's web, waiting for the opportune moment.
  3. Never regret your judgment, only refine it, trust in your system.
  4. Have fun. You might as well quit if you're not.

Farewell - W, king of games.

Don't, it'll dull your skills if we're talking about those 'free' poker apps. I just don't know many poker players offline to get a game going.

If the president starts gambling, some taxes might disappear.

Thanks for the advice, but I only play live Poker. I think my strength is all centered around the psychology elements of the game and live games have way more at play (especially live reads on tells). I feel like I'd probably play worse online even if I did play that way (but I don't have much real intention on doing so anyway).

Also a pretty small club that isn't currently too active, but may interest readers of this forum: https://www.chess.com/club/poker-fans

p.s. I currently have no connection to this club except being a member, but it may interest some readers here.

With free online poker, there's a whole lot of all-in players who are just there for fun's sake, giving old lady luck the run of her life. It takes time. There are players dropping tables constantly. You can't be in any rush, and yet you can't give yourself away by folding every hand. But even if you did fold every hand, and stalled until you had a sparkling set of cards, you could just play it passive and wait for the rest of the players to invite you in. All in all it's generally easy to win.

Playing at commercial casinos is just the same. A lot of poker noobs.

Online premium poker is a whole different story. You're going to find people just like yourself who think they're good. Nobody goes to spend money on online poker just for fun. They're a tough bunch.

At least that's how I view it 😁 I'm pretty much a noob myself, with a good read on people and a sense of the odds.

As noted, I've never played online Poker. However, I don't know if playing online means you are automatically that good at Poker. I think a lot of people would consider you almost like a pro if they knew you play online Poker, but this is psychological and I would suspect most online players are just there for fun too. Even if they do "give lady luck the run her life" a lot (that might actually serve as evidence towards my point that they are just having fun). Chess is ironically the same way. There is a common misconception that "chess players are smart." Of course, as a chess player I am sure you are well aware: a lot of chess players are just beginners, not necessarily "smart" and far from professional because they play online - I strongly believe that Poker would be the same way. Some online Poker tables may be extremely tough (just like GMs playing chess online), but I would imagine that most online players (chess or Poker) are just there for fun. happy.png

Tournaments are a good way to lose money, unless you were never really interested on winning the entire tournament if you get what I mean. There's only one winner in tournaments.

Yes that's very interesting. I still think online premium is a little different though.

I heard something like 97% of all Poker players lose money, so yeah - there is that. grin.png

I would recommend you to play for real money even if it is just the $0.01/$0.02 game. Free poker isn't real poker since the game is supposed to be played with money.
