Dude I literally posted that 3 mins ago you read all that?
This Drama NEEDS to Stop

Too many people using the community for attention. Threads like "I am back" (who?) or people asking others if they should close their account... wtf?

Yeah, seriously. If you want attention, a chess forum is possibly the worst place. Go do that on reddit or twitter.

Whaaaat hvenki closed just because of that ? He may have 10s or 100s of haters....But he has 1000s of people who like him ...including me )
Im new.I find it hard to inject drama at a place you come to play chess.Just seems weird to me.I barely know the game, hard to believe people have found a way to dramatize it.

Welcome to chess.com !!!!

The aforementioned drama probably stems from a lot of people seeking a place to belong, a sense of community they can’t get elsewhere for whatever reason. Because of this, whether the person’s who’s leaving wants that community or not, amongst his/her friends circle there will be people like that, and the long, drawn-out “goodbyes” will occur.
My advice to anyone bothered by that is to ignore the comments and PM the person who’s leaving if you know them.
Thanks,
KoA

Hvenki closed cuz of his fifth mute. That mute was because he was reported many times

Yeah and guess who submitted those reportts: his haters.
Hey, chess.com Community! It's me, the dude who doesn't fit in. (That doesn't matter, I just thought the truth was funny.) Lately, I've been seeing a lot of, "I'm closing my account," and such, and honestly, yeah, it's kinda sad to see people leave, but life goes on. Besides, nine out of ten times, you've never actually met the person who's leaving, and while it's true that you've developed an actual friendship with them (probably, anyway), you don't really know who they are. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm not here to criticize either the closing party or the people who are sad, I'm here to state my mind on the matter, and maybe, just maybe get there to be less drama when someone closes their account.
Why don't we start with the basics? Whenever someone posts a thread saying they're going to close their account, there's a long line of comments saying things like, "NOooooOOoOOoo dOn'T lEavE!" That's fine, you're naturally upset. The problem I have with this is some people reply and say, "There's nothing you can do to stop me.

" Okay, buddy. If there's nothing I can do to stop you, then effing close the damn account. Honestly, you really begin to wonder if they even have the balls to close, and then half an hour later they finally make their decision. Like, if you wanna close, post your goodbye, state a reason why, and then close. It's that's simple. You don't have to spark a four-page (about 80ish comments) back and forth because you're not mentally prepared to do it. JUST. EFFING. DO IT!
And then there's the other side of the drama, or rather the drama that makes people close their accounts, like poor @hvenki for example. People couldn't take his sense of humor, so they all just started hating on him, forcing him to close his account out of shame. Sure, he did some stupid stuff, but I wouldn't wish an online 1v585 on my worst enemy.
To end this short little snip-teen rant, I want to say that one, it's okay to want someoen not to close their account, just don't grow overly attached to them, two, don't be a douche, and three, if you're going to close your account, make it snappy but understandable so that people at least have some closure.
